What Jesus Christ Says About Forgiving Our Enemies

Jesus was falsely
accused by the
religious leaders of
his day, was
sentenced to death
by crucifixion when
he did nothing wrong,
was mocked by the
soldiers and the
religious leaders,
was hit in the face,
was spit upon,
was cruelly beaten,
had hair from his
beard torn out,
had a crown of
thorns placed on
his head and a
robe placed on
him to mock him,
was deserted by
his disciples the
night of his arrest,
was undressed to
humiliate him,
and was nailed to
a cross where he
hung for six long
hours, slowing
dying a torturous
death. And he was
separated from
God the Father
and God the Holy
Spirit once he took
on your sins and
my sins. That is
why God darkened
the sky because
he could not look
on all that sin (our
sin)!

And yet, here is what
Jesus
said about those who were
crucifying Him:

Luke 23:34
Then said Jesus,
Father,
forgive them; for they
know not what they do.

Jesus had a lot to
say about us
forgiving our
enemies.
Matthew
5:43 Ye have heard
that it hath been
said, Thou shalt
love thy neighbour,
and hate thine
enemy.

5:44 But I say unto
you, Love your
enemies, bless
them that curse
you, do good to
them that hate
you, and pray for
them which
despitefully use
you, and
persecute you;

5:45 That ye may be
the children of your
Father which is in
heaven: for he
maketh his sun
to rise on the evil
and on the good,
and sendeth rain
on the just and on
the unjust.

Did you get that?
Jesus is instructing
us to:

Love our enemies

Bless our enemies

Do good to our
enemies (that
means do nice
stuff for them)
Pray for our
enemies

Why? Because if
we have accepted
Jesus Christ as
our personal
Saviour and Lord
of our life, then
we need to obey
his command and
follow God's
example because
God is above all
merciful.

Jesus also said...

Luke
6:27 But I say unto
you which hear,
Love your enemies,
do good to them
which hate you,

6:28 Bless them
that curse you,
and pray for them
which despitefully
use you.

6:29 And unto him
that smiteth thee
on the one cheek
offer also the other;
and him that taketh
away thy cloke [cloak]
forbid not to take
thy coat also.

6:30 Give to every
man that asketh of
thee; and of him
that taketh away
thy goods ask
them not again.

6:31 And as ye
would that men
should do to you,
do ye also to
them likewise.
["The Golden Rule"]

6:35 But love ye
your enemies, and
do good, and lend,
hoping for nothing
again; and your
reward shall be
great, and ye shall
be the children of
the Highest: for
he is kind unto
the unthankful
and to the evil.

6:36 Be ye therefore
merciful, as your
Father also is merciful.

Dear sister or
brother in Christ, I
know from
experience about
holding grudges
and what it does
to your health.

If you continue to
hold a grudge
toward someone
who has done you
wrong, then you
are in bondage
to that person
until you let go of
your anger, hatred,
and/or bitterness
towards them!

You are the one
that is suffering,
stressing yourself
out by constantly
re-living what they
did to you. My
unforgiveness gave
me migraine
headaches!
God knows how all
those pent-up
emotions affect
your health; and here
is what he says
about revenge...

Romans 12:19
Dearly beloved,
avenge not
yourselves, but
rather give place
unto wrath: for it
is written,
Vengeance is mine;
I will repay, saith
the Lord.

Also, Jesus gives
us this warning
several times...If
we don't forgive
others, God won't
forgive us! Ouch.

Matthew 6:14-15
For if you forgive
men their trespasses,
your heavenly
Father will also
forgive you: But if
you forgive not men
their trespasses,
neither will your
Father forgive
your trespasses.

Mark 11:25
Whenever you
stand praying, if
you have anything
against anyone,
forgive him, that
your Father in
heaven may also
forgive you your
trespasses.

Luke 6:37
Judge not, and
ye shall not be
judged: condemn
not, and ye shall
not be
condemned:
forgive and ye
shall be forgiven.

Forgiveness of
others through
Jesus Christ will
set you free from
the bondage of
the sin of
unforgiveness
towards that person!

Want to be set
free today? Forgive
that person who
hurt you, and free
yourself from the
bondage to that
person.

Then pray that
God softens their
heart to turn them
towards Jesus
Christ; and then
just leave it up to
God to take care
of that person!

We all will all be
judged for our
own sins. There
is freedom in
forgiveness!!

John 8:36 Jesus Christ said:
If the Son therefore
shall make you
free, ye shall be
free indeed.
