Will Jesus Christ Be Proud Or Ashamed Of Me?

Words in Bold in Bible
verses are for emphasis.

Are you a Christian who
has accepted Jesus Christ
as your personal Saviour,
but now figure you will
‘coast' into heaven,
without having to change
the lifestyle that you had
before you came to
Christ?

In other words, since
becoming a Christian, do
you still read the same
kinds of books, watch the
same types of movies
and TV, search the same
kinds of websites, go to
the same types of places
for entertainment, hang
out with the same kind
of worldly non-Christian
friends who may criticize
or make fun of your
Saviour, or use His
name as a swear
word?

Do you still treat other
people exactly like you
did before you accepted
Jesus Christ as your
Saviour (in a 'dog-eat-dog'
or 'me first' attitude)?

Do you laugh with your
non-Christian friends over
'questionable or wicked
humor' you watch on a
TV show or in a movie?

In other words, do people
who knew you before you
became a Christian and
know you now afterward
see any proof that you live
any differently than you
did before you accepted
Jesus Christ as your
personal Saviour?

If, when you accepted Jesus
Christ as your personal
Saviour, you were truly
repentant about your
sins (sorry enough to
want to turn away from
them), and asked God
the Father in heaven for
forgiveness based on
Jesus Christ's death and
resurrection for your sins;
then God won't 'take back'
your salvation and eternal
life. Jesus' death and
resurrection was ‘one
sacrifice for sins for ever’,
so we don't lose our
salvation. But...

Hebrews 10:12
But this man*, after he had
offered one sacrifice for
sins for ever, sat down
on the right hand of God;
[*Jesus Christ]

But, there are always
consequences to sin,
even if those
consequences may not
come until later, they
always come.

Not becoming a ‘new
creature’ after you have
accepted Jesus Christ as
your Saviour is not how
the Bible says we should
live, when we were bought
with so great a price as
Jesus Christ's sinless
blood!

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any man be in
Christ, he is a new creature:
old things are passed away;
behold, all things are
become new.

1 Corinthians
6:18  Flee fornication
[unlawful sexual intercourse;
adultery; harlotry; incest;
pedophilia; bestiality; and
any other restriction God
has placed on mankind
included under one of the
Ten Commandments in
Exodus 20:14 under
'Thou shalt not commit
adultery'] Every sin that
a man doeth is without
the body; but he that
committeth fornication
sinneth against his own
body.
6:19 What? know ye not
that your body is the
temple of the Holy Ghost
which is in you, which ye
have of God, and ye are
not your own?

6:20 For ye are bought
with a price [the price
of the blood of Jesus
Christ]: therefore glorify
God in your body, and
in your spirit, which are
God's.

Here is what the Bible says
about our new lives after
we accept Jesus Christ as
our personal Saviour. First
of all, we should not be
‘serving sin’. In other words,
our desire now, after
salvation, should be to
want to be obedient to
God the Father in heaven
as thanks for His awesome
sacrifice of His only
begotten Son, Jesus Christ,
for our sins!

Romans 6:6
Knowing this, that our old
man [how we lived before
we were saved] is crucified
with him [Jesus], that
the body of sin might
be destroyed, that
henceforth we should
not serve sin.

We should live in a way that
we will not be ashamed
when Jesus Christ comes
to take us home to heaven.
If He returned today, would
Jesus be proud of the way
I am living my life - or
would He be ashamed of
me?

If He came right this minute
into my home, would I have
to hide the things I read, or
quickly erase the shows I
have taped on our DVR?
Would I have to erase the
links to questionable
websites from my
computer before I let
Jesus Christ into my
home? Would I have to
tell those friends not to
come visit...or tell my
friend that he or she
can't stay overnight?

1 John 2:28
And now, little children,
abide in him; that, when he
shall appear, we may have
confidence, and not be
ashamed before him at
his coming.

In these next few verses
Paul is telling the Corinthian
Christians that he could not
speak unto them as mature
Christians, but as "babes in
Christ" because they were
still carnal [unregenerate].
They weren't growing in
God's Holy Word (the Bible)
and not maturing to
become more Christ-like.

1 Corinthians
3:1 And I, brethren, could
not speak unto you as unto
spiritual, but as unto carnal,
even as unto babes in
Christ.

3:2 I have fed you with
milk, and not with meat:
for hitherto ye were not
able to bear it, neither
yet now are ye able.

3:3 For ye are yet carnal:
for whereas there is
among you envying, and
strife, and divisions, are
ye not carnal, and walk
as men?

Although carnal means
fleshly in Greek, that
doesn't have to mean
sexual immorality; it could
also include filling our
minds and thoughts with
sexual innuendo,
off-color humor, nudity,
and blatant sex which
we find in abundance in
books, magazines, movies,
television, and online
websites, in fact just about
everywhere you look these
days. These things have
no eternal value, and are
not things you can watch
and read, and then go to
God and expect to have
a close personal
relationship with Him.
God does not tolerate
sin. But it can also mean
'unregenerate' that we
are not growing in
spiritual things and
becoming more Christ-
like.

Habbakuk 1:13
Thou art of purer eyes
than to behold evil, and
canst not look on
iniquity: wherefore
lookest thou upon them
that deal treacherously,
and holdest thy tongue
when the wicked
devoureth the man
that is more righteous
than he?

God wants us to focus
our lives on studying His
Holy Word (the King
James Bible) to get to
know how He wants us
to live, and how to grow
into mature Christians
who are more Christ-like
so we can be good
witnesses to share the
message of how to be
saved through faith in
Jesus Christ and get
to heaven.

God also wants to have a
close, personal
relationship with us like
He had with Adam and
Eve. He loves us as
individuals, and wants
us to get to know Him
personally through His
Word and through
prayer (talking to Him
and listening to Him
speak to our hearts).

Once we become
Christians, we, and
others around us, should
see a change in us so
that when the Holy Spirit
pricks our conscience,
we stop what we are
doing or thinking, and get
away from whatever is
causing us to be tempted
to sin against God the
Father in heaven. And
when we are living in
obedience to His Word,
we will have a clear
conscience before Him,
and are free of the burden
of guilt from sin.

King David said this to
God...

Psalm 51:10
Create in me a clean
heart, O God; and renew
a right spirit within me.

Also you'll see, as you
grow closer to God as
you read and study His
Word to get to know
Him better, you'll find
peace and joy like
you've never known
before because God
created us to be in a
close relationship with
Him.

And, as you continually
grow to become a mature
Christian. When people
see how much you have
changed as a person
since becoming a
Christian; and they see
the joy and peace you
have by living a life that
is pleasing to God,
others will want what
you have; and then
you can share with
them how Jesus Christ
changed you and how
they, too, can receive
Jesus Christ as their
Saviour and go to
heaven when they die!

But, if you just want to
‘get by’ and don't have a
desire to grow to become
more like Jesus Christ,
then in essence you are
saying to Jesus, thanks
for suffering and dying
for my sins so that I can
avoid hell, but it's too
much trouble to give up
the worldly entertainment
and activities I've always
loved in order to live for
you.

We are supposed to be
ambassadors for Christ;
and we should be living
in such a way to bring
honor to His name. Isn't
He worth it, since He
was tortured and died in
our place for our sins?

2 Corinthians
5:19 To wit, that God was
in Christ, reconciling the
world unto himself, not
imputing their trespasses
unto them; and hath
committed unto us the
word of reconciliation.

5:20 Now then we are
ambassadors for Christ,
as though God did
beseech you by us: we
pray you in Christ's
stead, be ye reconciled
to God.
5:21 For he hath made
him to be sin for us, who
knew no sin; that we
might be made the
righteousness of God
in him.

When you meet Jesus
Christ in person, don't you
want Him to say to you,
"Well done, good and
faithful servant?"

Matthew 25:23
His lord said unto him, Well
done, good and faithful
servant; thou hast been
faithful over a few things,
I will make thee ruler over
many things: enter thou
into the joy of thy lord.

In this next verse Paul is
telling us what we should
be focusing our thoughts
on. Are you filling your
mind and thoughts with
things that are honest,
just, pure, of good report,
virtuous, and
praiseworthy?

Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren,
whatsoever things are true,
whatsoever things are
honest, whatsoever things
are just, whatsoever
things are pure,
whatsoever things are
lovely, whatsoever
things are of good report;
if there be any virtue,
and if there be any
praise, think on these
things.

We should not be yielding
ourselves to sin, but
yielding ourselves to
God's Holy Spirit, allowing
Him to convict us (prick
our conscience) so
that we don't sin.

Romans
6:12 Let not sin
therefore reign in your
mortal body, that ye
should obey it in the
lusts thereof.

6:13 Neither yield ye your
members as instruments
of unrighteousness unto
sin: but yield yourselves
unto God, as those that
are alive from the dead,
and your members as
instruments of
righteousness unto God.

But, do not despair. We all
sin and fall short of the
glory of God. There is hope
for us when we are tempted
to sin. Let's learn how Jesus
overcame temptation by
Satan...

When Satan tempted Jesus
in the desert, Jesus
defeated him by using the
Word of God! Jesus is our
example of how to defeat
him...by learning Bible
verses specific to the areas
of sin that tempt you most
often, so that when that
particular temptation
comes, you can recall
God's Bible verses to turn
your attention to God and
away from the sin that is
attracting you. His Holy
Spirit that is inside you
will help you overcome
that temptation.

1 Corinthians 10:13
There hath no temptation
taken you but such as is
common to man: but
God is faithful, who will
not suffer you to be
tempted above that ye
are able; but will with
the temptation also
make a way to escape,
that ye may be able to
bear it.

In this next Bible verse,
Jesus tells us that His
Holy Ghost/Spirit will
teach us the things
Jesus taught us and
bring them into
remembrance - so we'll
remember those Bible
verses when we need
them in times of
temptation.

John 14:26
But the Comforter, which
is the Holy Ghost, whom
the Father will send in
my name, he shall teach
you all things, and bring
all things to your
remembrance,
whatsoever I have said
unto you.

You can read the full story of
Jesus defeating Satan's
temptations in Matthew 4:1
to 4:11. But within those
verses, here are the three
of the most important
verses in the story about
overcoming Satan’s
temptations...

These verses are Jesus
speaking...

Matthew 4:4
But he answered and
said, It is written, Man
shall not live by bread
alone, but by every
word that proceedeth
out of the mouth of God.

Matthew 4:7
Jesus said unto him,
It is written again, Thou
shalt not tempt the Lord
thy God.

Matthew 4:10
Then saith Jesus unto him,
Get thee hence, Satan:
for it is written, Thou
shalt worship the Lord
thy God, and him only
shalt thou serve.

We should be studying
God's Word daily in order
to change our lives to
please Him so that we
won't be ashamed when
we face Jesus Christ in
person!

2 Timothy 2:15
Study to shew thyself
approved unto God,
a workman that needeth
not to be ashamed,
rightly dividing the word
of truth.

King David believed that
knowing God's Word would
keep him from sinning.
Good advice for you and
me!

Psalm 119:11
Thy word have I hid in
mine heart, that I might
not sin against thee.

But God the Father in
heaven is good to us. If we
confess our sins to Him,
He is faithful and just to
forgive our sins and to
cleanse us from all
unrighteousness. How
awesome is that!

1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is
faithful and just to forgive us
our sins, and to cleanse us
from all unrighteousness.

And if you know someone
who does not know how to
be saved from their sins
and know that they will go
to heaven when they die,
God's Holy Word, the King
James Bible, tells us how.

Agree with God in
heaven that you are
sinner and need
Saviour. GOD SAYS
WE ARE ALL
SINNERS. But keep
reading because
there is Good News
for you:

Romans 3:23
For all have sinned,
and come short of the
glory of God;

Believe that Jesus
Christ, the Sinless Son
of God, shed his blood
on the cross to pay
for your sins (and
mine). Three days later
He rose from the dead.

Romans 5:8
But God commendeth
his love toward us, in
that, while we were
yet sinners, Christ
died for us.

Repent of trusting in
anything or anyone
other than Jesus
Christ (i.e. baptism,
good works, money/tithes
man-made church rules
or traditions, or religious
ceremonies) to save you.

Titus 3:5
Not by works of
righteousness which we
have done, but according
to his mercy he saved us,
by the washing of
regeneration, and
renewing of the Holy
Ghost;

Jesus said that we do
not get to heaven by our
good works (stuff we
have done). See verses
7:22 and 7:23 below!

Matthew
7:21 Not every one that
saith unto me, Lord,
Lord, shall enter into
the kingdom of heaven;
but he that doeth the
will of my Father which
is in heaven.

7:22 Many will say to
me in that day, Lord,
Lord, have we not
prophesied in thy
name? and in thy
name have cast
out devils? and in
thy name done
many wonderful
works?

7:23 And then will I
profess unto them,
I never knew you:
depart from me, ye
that work iniquity.

Accept God's Free
Gift of eternal life
through his Sinless
Son, the Lord Jesus
Christ. It is a free gift
to you, but it cost Jesus
Christ his life! You do
not have to work to
earn a Gift - It is free!

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is
death; but the gift of
God is eternal life
through Jesus Christ
our Lord.

God tells us that as
many as received
Jesus Christ as their
Saviour and believed
on his name (trusted
him as Saviour), he
gave them power to
become the sons
(and daughters) of
God the Father in
heaven!

John 1:12
But as many as received
him [trusted Jesus], to
them gave he power to
become the sons of God,
even to them that
believe on his name.

So, if you confessed to
God in heaven that you
are a sinner in need of
a Saviour, and you
believe that Jesus Christ
died for your sins and
that God raised him
from the dead, then
you shall be saved.

Romans 10:9
That if thou shalt confess
with thy mouth the Lord
Jesus, and shalt believe
in thine heart that God
hath raised him from
the dead, thou shalt
be saved.

And when you die, you
will go straight to heaven
to be with Jesus Christ
forever and ever! The
following Bible verse
is one of my favorites.
It gave me comfort when
I went through double
breast cancer surgery
for I knew that if I died
on the operating table
I would immediately be
in heaven with Jesus!
Knowing that is why I
no longer fear what
comes after death.
What freedom there is
in knowing that.

2 Corinthians 5:8
We are confident, I say,
and willing rather to be
absent from the body,
and to be present with
the Lord.

One note to all dear
Catholics: The Catholic
church says that it is
wrong to believe that
you can know you are
saved before you die.
Please think about
this: God is a God of
love. After all he sent
his Son to die for your
sins so you could be
with him in heaven for
eternity! That is love!
Why would a God of love
want you to worry all of
your life whether you will
go to heaven or hell when
you die? God in heaven
wants us to have peace
and joy in this life as we
live for him and draw
others to him as their
Saviour. Only a cruel
God would want us
worried and stressed
about what comes after
death. But GOD LOVES
YOU and wants you to
have peace knowing that
you are saved now and
can know now that you
are going to heaven when
you die! Please trust your
loving heavenly Father's
Holy Word (the King James
Bible) when God tells you
that you will be with Him
after death if you trusted
Jesus Christ as your
Saviour!

And now that you have
become a Christian, it
is important to learn how
to live a life that glorifies
God in heaven who gave
you the Gift of salvation.
