Jesus Christ Taught From The Old Testament!

I did this post because I
have heard that many
churches no longer
believe that the Old
Testament of the
Bible is relevant for
us today. How wrong
they are!

I decided to do a Bible
search and find out
reasons why God
would have allowed
the Old Testament to
survive to this day if
it were not important
for us to study what
is in it!

I think that you will be
amazed at the wealth
of information that we
have deprived
ourselves of when
we neglect studying
the Old Testament!

1. The Old Testament
makes up more than
half of the Bible; and
God tells us that ALL
of Scripture is
important, and
that includes the
Old Testament!

2 Timothy
3:16 All scripture is
given by inspiration
of God, and is
profitable for doctrine,
for reproof, for
correction, for
instruction in
righteousness:

3:17 That the man of
God may be perfect,
throughly [thoroughly]
furnished unto all
good works.

2. The Old Testament
shows us the close
personal relationship
that God had with Adam
and Eve, the first man
and woman, and then
with the people He
chose to share who
He is with the world:
the Jewish people.
This close, personal
relationship is what
God in heaven
wants with each one
of His followers.

The Old Testament also
shows us that God is
not an impersonal God,
but one who wants to
be personally involved
in every aspect of each
one of our lives. Just
look at all the personal
names of real people
that God put inside
the Old Testament;
proving that He also
knows each one of
us by our name!
How awesome is
that!

Additionally, when you
read the Old Testament
you will see that God
gave detailed
instructions of how
the Jews (called
Israelites) were to
live in order to stay in
a close relationship
with him. These were
examples to show us
that God is concerned
with every area of our
lives, too! He is a
Personal God!

3. Also, Jesus Christ
was Jewish and grew
up studying the Old
Testament (the Hebrew)
scriptures, and Jesus
taught from these Old
Testament scriptures
during his earthly
ministry.

4. Jesus Christ used
Old Testament scriptures
to defeat Satan when
Jesus was tempted by
Satan in the desert
(Read Matthew
4:1 - 4:11).

So, if Jesus Christ felt
the need to use the
Old Testament
Scriptures to defeat
Satan's temptations,
how much more do
we sinful humans
need to learn those
Scriptures by
heart to defend
ourselves from
Satan's temptations
to keep us from
sinning against God?

5. Many of the Old
Testament prophecies
were fulfilled in the
New Testament by
Jesus Christ as the
Saviour of the world.
Without the Old
Testament we would
not have seen
God's power to bring
to pass the prophecies
that He gave Old
Testament prophets,
showing us that God
in heaven is the Only
One who knows the
future with 100%
accuracy!

Seeing the evidence of
prophecies that have
already been fulfilled
confirms the accuracy
of the Bible, but you
cannot see that
connection between
the prophecies in the
Old Testament and
their fulfillment in the
New Testament unless
you actually study the
Old Testament! These
fulfilled prophecies
are proofs that we
can trust that ALL
OF THE BIBLE is
true and
God-inspired!

Also, in the Old
Testament we can
see the as-yet-unfulfilled
prophecies related to
the End Times which
tell us exactly what
is going to happen in
the future! That is
why true Christians
(those saved by faith
in Jesus Christ alone
and not by works)
don't need to fear the
future because the
Holy Bible (KJV)
shows us that Jesus
Christ wins in the
end, and we win with
Him!

6. In the Old Testament
we learn details of who
God is and how he
relates to his followers.
And if we want that kind
of close, personal
relationship with God
(as he wants with us),
then we will want to learn
what God is like and how
much he loves us, and
the Old Testament is
the only place you
can do that!

7. Our Christian faith
was born out of the
Jewish faith which is
described in detail in
the Old Testament.
The Jewish faith is
the beginning of our
Christian religion. Why
would we not want to
know what our
religious roots are?

The early church began
with the 8 Jewish Apostles
of Jesus: Matthew, Mark,
John, Paul, Peter, James,
Jude, and Luke (a doctor,
and a non-Jew) who
wrote the New
Testament of the Bible.

8. Jesus Christ is
described in every book
of the Old
Testament, because
the Bible is all about
Jesus Christ, the
Creator and Saviour
of the world! (I am
working now on a
Bible study to show
Jesus Christ is in
every book of the
Old Testament.)

9. And last but not least,
by studying the Old
Testament scriptures,
we see the picture of
a loving, personal,
all powerful, all
knowing,
everywhere-present
God, our heavenly
Father, who we
learn is extremely
patient, loving
and merciful, and
worthy to be
revered, worshiped,
and loved in return.

My Closing Thoughts:
If you would like to
be saved from your
sins and go to heaven
when you die, God's
Holy Word, the
King James Bible,
tells us how.

How Can I Get To Heaven?

How can I be saved
from my sins and know
that I will go to heaven
when I die? God's Holy
Word, the King James
Bible, tells us how:

Agree with God in
heaven that you are
sinner and need
Saviour. GOD SAYS
WE ARE ALL
SINNERS. But keep
reading because
there is Good News
for you:

Romans 3:23
For all have sinned,
and come short of the
glory of God;

Be willing to turn from
your sin (repent).

Acts 17:30
And the times of this
ignorance God winked
at; but now commandeth
all men every where to
repent:

Believe that Jesus
Christ, the Sinless Son
of God, shed his blood
on the cross to pay
for your sins and
mine, was buried,
and that three
days later He rose
from the dead.

Romans 10:9
That if thou shalt confess
with thy mouth the Lord
Jesus, and shalt believe
in thine heart that God
hath raised him from
the dead, thou shalt
be saved.

Repent of trusting in
anything or anyone
other than Jesus
Christ (i.e. baptism,
good works, idols,
false gods, $/tithes
man-made church
rules or traditions,
or religious
ceremonies) to
save you.

Titus 3:5
Not by works of
righteousness which we
have done, but according
to his mercy he saved us,
by the washing of
regeneration, and
renewing of the Holy
Ghost;

Jesus said that we do
not get to heaven by our
good works (stuff we
have done). See verses
7:22 and 7:23 below!

Matthew
7:21 Not every one that
saith unto me, Lord,
Lord, shall enter into
the kingdom of heaven;
but he that doeth the
will of my Father which
is in heaven.

7:22 Many will say to
me in that day, Lord,
Lord, have we not
prophesied in thy
name? and in thy
name have cast
out devils? and in
thy name done
many wonderful
works?

7:23 And then will I
profess unto them,
I never knew you:
depart from me, ye
that work iniquity.

Accept God's Free
Gift of eternal life
through his Sinless
Son, the Lord Jesus
Christ. It is a free gift
to you, but it cost Jesus
Christ his life! You do
not have to work to
earn a Gift - It is free!

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is
death; but the gift of
God is eternal life
through Jesus Christ
our Lord.

Ask Jesus Christ to be
your personal Saviour
and Lord of your life.

Romans 10:13
For whosoever shall
call upon the name
of the Lord shall be
saved.

So, if you did that and
sincerely meant it,
then you are now a
Christian! Welcome
to the family.

Romans 10:9
That if thou shalt confess
with thy mouth the Lord
Jesus, and shalt believe
in thine heart that God
hath raised him from
the dead, thou shalt
be saved.

And when you die, you
will go straight to heaven
to be with Jesus Christ
forever and ever! The
following Bible verse
is one of my favorites.
It gave me comfort when
I went through double
breast cancer surgery
for I knew that if I died
on the operating table
I would immediately be
in heaven with Jesus!
Knowing that is why I
no longer fear what
comes after death.
What freedom there is
in knowing that.

2 Corinthians 5:8
We are confident, I say,
and willing rather to be
absent from the body,
and to be present with
the Lord.

One note to all dear
Catholics: The Catholic
church says that it is
wrong to believe that
you can know you are
saved before you die.
Please think about
this: God is a God of
love. After all he sent
his Son to die for your
sins so you could be
with him in heaven for
eternity! That is love!
Why would a God of love
want you to worry all of
your life whether you will
go to heaven or hell when
you die? God in heaven
wants us to have peace
and joy in this life as we
live for him and draw
others to him as their
Saviour. Only a cruel
God would want us
worried and stressed
about what comes after
death. But GOD LOVES
YOU and wants you to
have peace knowing that
you are saved now and
can know now that you
are going to heaven when
you die! Please trust your
loving heavenly Father's
Holy Word (the King James
Bible) when God tells you
that you will be with Him
after death if you trusted
Jesus Christ as your
Saviour!

And now that you have
become a Christian, it
is important to learn how
to live a life that glorifies
God in heaven who gave
you the Gift of salvation.
