Jesus Christ Said Salvation Is Of The Jews

In this Bible study we will
see that Jesus Christ
came to save God's
chosen people, the
Israelites/Jews.

Deuteronomy 7:6
For thou art an holy people
unto the LORD thy God:
the LORD thy God hath
chosen thee to be a
special people unto
himself, above all
people that are upon
the face of the earth.

But because many of the
Jewish people did not
recognize Jesus as their
Messiah during his
earthly ministry
(because they were
looking for a warrior
king to defeat their
Roman oppressors
and not for a suffering
Messiah who would
die for their sins), then
we non-Jews (called
Gentiles in the Bible)
have been given the
privilege of choosing
to accept Jesus Christ
as our personal
Saviour!

But, let us not forget
the following important
facts...

1. The Church was
started by all Jewish
believers, and
because of them the
gospel of Jesus
Christ spread like
wildfire around the
world!

If it were not for those
early Jewish disciples,
apostles, and believers,
there would not be a
Christian church today!
And many of them were
crucified, beheaded,
tortured, set on fire,
and suffered horrible
deaths because they
would not renounce
their faith in Jesus
Christ as their risen
Messiah/Saviour.

2. Jesus was a Jew.
Read Jesus' genealogy
in Matthew 1:1 through
1:21. Here are a few of
those verses:

1:1 The book of the
generation of Jesus
Christ, the son of David,
the son of Abraham.
1:2  Abraham begat
Isaac; and Isaac begat
Jacob; and Jacob
begat Judas and his
brethren;
1:18 Now the birth of
Jesus Christ was on
this wise: When as
his mother Mary was
espoused to Joseph,
before they came
together, she was
found with child
of the Holy Ghost.
1:19 Then Joseph
her husband, being a
just man, and not
willing to make her
a publick example,
was minded to put
her away privily.
1:20 But while he
thought on these
things, behold, the
angel of the Lord
appeared unto him
in a dream, saying,
Joseph, thou son of
David, fear not to
take unto thee Mary
thy wife: for that which
is conceived in her is
of the Holy Ghost.
1:21 And she shall
bring forth a son, and
thou shalt call his
name JESUS: for
he shall save his
people from their
sins.

3. Jesus Christ's real
name is Immanuel,
which means "God
with us".

Matthew

1:23 Behold, a virgin shall
be with child, and shall
bring forth a son, and
they shall call his
name Emmanuel,
which being
interpreted is,
God with us.

1:24 Then Joseph being
raised from sleep did as
the angel of the Lord
had bidden him, and
took unto him his wife:

1:25 And knew her not
till she had brought forth
her firstborn son: and
he called his name
JESUS.

4. Jesus was taught from
and preached from the
Hebrew (Jewish)
Scriptures, which
we Christians call the
Old Testament.

Matthew 13:54

And when he was come
into his own country, he
taught them in their
synagogue, insomuch
that they were
astonished, and said,
Whence hath this
man this wisdom
and these mighty works?

Luke 4:32

And they were astonished
at his doctrine: for his
word was with power.

Mark 1:22

And they were astonished
at his doctrine: for he
taught them as one
that had authority,
and not as the scribes.

Luke

2:42 And when he [Jesus]
was twelve years old, they
went up to Jerusalem after
the custom of the feast.

2:43 And when they had
fulfilled the days, as
they returned, the child
Jesus tarried behind in
Jerusalem; and Joseph
and his mother knew
not of it.

2:44 But they, supposing
him to have been in the
company, went a day's
journey; and they sought
him among their kinsfolk
and acquaintance.

2:45 And when they
found him not, they turned
back again to Jerusalem,
seeking him.

2:46 And it came to pass,
that after three days
they found him in the
temple, sitting in the
midst of the doctors,
both hearing them, and
asking them questions.

2:47 And all that heard
him were astonished at
his understanding and
answers.

5. Jesus practiced the
Jewish feasts and
obeyed the Jewish
laws.

Matthew 26:17

Now the first day of the
feast of unleavened
bread the disciples came
to Jesus, saying unto
him, Where wilt thou
that we prepare for
thee to eat the passover?

Luke 2:42

And when he [Jesus] was
twelve years old, they
went up to Jerusalem
after the custom of the
feast.

John

7:2 Now the Jews' feast of
tabernacles was at hand.

7:3 His brethren therefore
said unto him, Depart
hence, and go into
Judaea, that thy disciples
also may see the works
that thou doest.

7:4 For there is no man
that doeth any thing in
secret, and he himself
seeketh to be known
openly. If thou do these
things, shew thyself to
the world.

7:5 For neither did his
brethren [half-brothers]
believe in him.

7:6 Then Jesus said unto
them, My time is not yet
come: but your time is
alway ready.

7:8 Go ye up unto this
feast: I go not up yet
unto this feast; for my
time is not yet full come.

7:10 But when his brethren
were gone up, then went
he also up unto the feast,
not openly, but as it were
in secret.

John

10:22 And it was at
Jerusalem the feast of
the dedication, and it
was winter.

10:23 And Jesus walked
in the temple in
Solomon's porch.

10:24 Then came the
Jews round about him,
and said unto him, How
long dost thou make us
to doubt? If thou be the
Christ, tell us plainly.

10:25 Jesus answered
them, I told you, and ye
believed not: the works
that I do in my Father's
name, they bear
witness of me.

John

12:12 On the next day much
people that were come to
the feast, when they heard
that Jesus was coming to
Jerusalem,

12:13 Took branches of
palm trees, and went
forth to meet him, and
cried, Hosanna:
Blessed is the King of
Israel that cometh in
the name of the Lord.

6. Jesus was circumcised
at eight days old in
accordance to Jewish law.

Luke 2:21

And when eight days were
accomplished for the
circumcising of the child,
his name was called
JESUS, which was so
named of the angel
before he was conceived
in the womb.

7. Jesus attended and
taught in the
synagogues (Jewish
houses of worship).

Luke 4:16

And he came to Nazareth,
where he had been
brought up: and, as
his custom was, he
went into the
synagogue on the
sabbath day, and
stood up for to read.

John 18:20

Jesus answered him,
spake openly to the world;
I ever taught in the
synagogue, and in the
temple, whither the
Jews always resort;
and in secret have I
said nothing.

8. Jesus told the woman
at Canaan that he was
sent to the lost sheep
of the house of Israel
(the Jews).

Matthew 15:24

But he answered and
said, I am not sent but
unto the lost sheep of
the house of Israel.

Jesus told the woman at
the well that salvation
was of the Jews.

John 4:22
Ye worship ye know not
what: we know what we
worship: for salvation
is of the Jews.

Jesus came to save the
Jewish people. When
many of them did not
recognize him as their
Messiah (Saviour), then
we non-Jewish people
were given the
opportunity to be saved
(if we choose to accept
Jesus Christ's death
and resurrection as
payment for our sins).

Romans 11:11

I say then, Have they
stumbled that they should
fall? God forbid: but
rather through their
[the Jews'] fall salvation
is come unto the
Gentiles, for to
provoke them to jealousy.

And because of these
facts, let us thank God
daily for his great
mercy and grace
towards us
non-Jewish people,
in offering us the
gift of eternal life
through His sinless
Son, Jesus Christ.

Also, we should be
thankful to the Jewish
people for....

...giving us God's
Holy Word (the Old
and New Testaments
which were written
by Jewish men),

...for our Saviour and
their Messiah, Jesus
Christ, born a Jew,

...for starting the
Christian Church
which originally was
made up of all Jewish
believers, and then
later non-Jews were
added, and

...for their suffering
and dying as martyrs
in order to spread the
Gospel of Jesus Christ
so that we non-Jews
would have the
privilege of choosing
to know Jesus Christ
as our Saviour, too!
