I was not an authentic
Christian. I was a Christian
in name only. And I am
sure that more than once
I gave Jesus Christ a bad
name because of what I
had done or said to other
people. Please keep
reading. This is a real
learning experience for
me, too.
These so called
'Christians' may have a
'head' knowledge about
Christ Jesus, but not a
'heart' knowledge. What
I mean by that is that they
have heard good stuff
about Jesus and they like
him, and perhaps they go
to church once a week for
an hour to worship Him,
maybe they sing in the
choir, or they teach a
Sunday school class,
perhaps they help the
poor, or they work on
social issues, and
because of what they
do, they think they are
going to go to heaven
when they die. I learned
that that is how we
humans think - that
perhaps God will weigh
our good deeds against
our bad in order to see
if we qualify for heaven.
Boy, was I wrong! Please
keep reading to find out
why. I did a lot of those
good deeds I just spoke
about, but it wasn't until
much later in life that I
learned the truth about
how to get to heaven
God's way.
Here is what the Lord
Christ Jesus said about
how to get into God's
Holy heaven.
John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him,
I am the way, the truth,
and the life: no man
cometh unto the Father
[God in heaven],
but by me.
John
3:16 For God so loved the
world, that he gave his
only begotten Son [Jesus
Christ], that whosoever
believeth in him should
not perish, but have
everlasting life.
3:17 For God sent not his
3:17 For God sent not his
Son into the world to
condemn the world; but
that the world through
him might be saved.
3:18 He that believeth
on him is not condemned:
but he that believeth
not is condemned
already, because he
hath not believed in
the name of the only
begotten Son of God.
Please keep reading
for good news.
Christians 'in name only'
would like to go to heaven
when they die, but they do
not want to sacrifice by
giving up their sinful
lifestyles in order to do so.
I know because I used to
be one of those type of
so-called 'Christians'. But
I thought I was okay with
God because I 'tried' to
be a good person. But I
failed miserably so many
times, and in the process
I am sure I turned people
away from Christ Jesus
because of my words or
my actions. You can see
how Christ Jesus could
get a bad name from
pretend Christians.
Some people told Christ
Jesus about all their
"wonderful works" they had
done [good stuff THEY DID]
and they were proud of
themselves, thinking
they would get into
heaven. Please read the
answer Christ Jesus gave
them to show that their
'good works' would not
get them into heaven!
Matthew
7:21 Not every one that
saith unto me, Lord, Lord,
shall enter into the kingdom
of heaven; but he that doeth
the will of my Father which
is in heaven.
7:22 Many will say to
me in that day, Lord,
Lord, have we not
prophesied in thy name?
and in thy name have
cast out devils? and in
thy name done many
wonderful works?
7:23 And then will I
profess unto them, I
never knew you: depart
from me, ye that work
iniquity [sin].
Why did Jesus Christ say
that? Because none of our
good works (i.e., baptism,
communion, regular
attendance at church or
synagogue, or other
religious setting, etc.,
giving tithes to the church,
being a nice person, giving
to the poor, saying prayers,
obeying man-made church
traditions, etc.) will get us
into heaven. God says our
good works are as filthy
rags to him because to get
into heaven we must be
perfect and sinless to get into
God's Holy Heaven! Yikes.
Also, God is perfect and
cannot be around sin or
sinners. Ouch. That leaves
me out. But please keep
reading because good
news is coming.
Isaiah 64:6
But we are all as an
unclean thing, and all
our righteousnesses
are as filthy rags; and
we all do fade as a leaf;
and our iniquities [sins],
like the wind, have taken
us away.
Habbakuk 1:13(a)
Thou [God] art of purer
eyes than to behold evil,
and canst not look on
iniquity [sin]:
Some people ask Christ
Jesus what should they do
to "work the works of God".
In other words how can
they work their way to
heaven. Read what Christ
Jesus answers them.
So Jesus is saying that
they can do nothing to
earn their way to heaven
but believe on Him (his
blood sacrifice to pay
for their sins - death,
burial, and his
resurrection from the
dead)
John
6:28 Then said they unto
him, What shall we do,
that we might work the
works of God?
6:29 Jesus answered
and said unto them, This
is the work of God, that
ye believe on him whom
he hath sent [meaning
Himself, Christs Jesus,
the Sinless Son of God].
Jesus also taught that
there are two different
paths we can take. One
leads to destruction
[hell] and the other leads
to life [heaven]. Shockingly
Christ Jesus said that very
few take the narrow road
that leads to life [heaven].
Matthew
7:13 Enter ye in at the
strait gate: for wide is
the gate, and broad is
the way, that leadeth
to destruction, and
many there be which
go in thereat:
7:14 Because strait is
the gate, and narrow is
the way, which leadeth
unto life, and few there
be that find it.
Why don't more people
take that narrow path that
leads to eternal life?
Because they would
rather continue living
in their sins than in
giving them up and
living to give honor and
glory to our heavenly
Father.
But living your life
when you know
there is peace
between you and
God is awesome! You
get rid of the burden of
sin and guilt and shame.
That is when you can know
real joy and peace, even
in the midst of tough times,
and hope when you know
that your sins are paid
for (by Christ Jesus'
blood) and that you
are headed for heaven
when you die. There is
also peace when you
no longer have to fear
what comes after death.
What freedom there is
in knowing that, and
knowing there is
peace between you
and God in heaven!
Romans 5:1
Therefore being justified
by faith, we have peace
with God through our
Lord Jesus Christ:
John (Jesus said:)
3:19 And this is the
condemnation, that light
is come into the world
[Jesus Christ], and men
loved darkness rather
than light, because their
deeds were evil.
3:20 For every one that
doeth evil hateth the light,
neither cometh to the light,
lest his deeds should be
reproved.
So, many of the people
who call themselves
Christians but live just like
the rest of the world are
just pretenders. They have
not humbled themselves
before God in heaven, nor
have they admitted to Him
that they are a sinner in
need of a Saviour (like we
all are in need of). They live
just like the rest of the world
lives, ungodly lives in
disobedience to God's Holy
Preserved Word, the King
James Bible, and hurting
others, themselves, and
worst of all sinning against
God. God calls disobedience
to Him "sin". These Christians
in name only like the idea of
getting to heaven, but do not
want to give up their sins in
order to get there! I keep
repeating that point because
it is what keeps people out
of heaven!
Being sorry for our sins and
wanting to turn away from
them (stop doing them) and
getting right with God is what
shows the difference between
fake Christians and real
Christians who truly want to
live as God wants us to live.
Christ Jesus taught us to
love our enemies and pray
for them. That is the opposite
of what the world does. And
that is just one of the many
things Christ Jesus taught
that true followers of Christ
Jesus want to live by.
Christ Jesus also told his
followers that we need to
take up our cross, meaning
that we will sometimes suffer
because of our faith. Christ
Jesus also told us to deny
ourselves, in other words not
to indulge ourselves in this
world's pleasures, but to live
for him and for future
rewards in eternity in
heaven. Denying ourselves
is not a popular message
today because we have
been blessed with so much,
and indulging ourselves is
what we do because we were
born with a sin nature
inherited from Adam, our
ancestor and the first man
God created.
Christ Jesus also said that
his followers will be rejected
for our faith because Christ
Jesus' teachings are the
opposite of what the world
believes. The world does
not like His message
because in order to get to
heaven we must admit to
God in heaven that we are
a sinner and turn away
from those sins (repent).
Matthew 16:24
Then said Jesus unto
his disciples, If any man
will come after me, let
him deny himself, and
take up his cross, and
follow me.
The difference between fake
Christians and true followers
of Christ Jesus is that when
we sin, we regret it and want
to make things right with the
person/s we hurt and with
God in heaven.
So, please do not judge
Christ Jesus by Christians
(His followers) because we
Christians are not perfect,
sinless and holy like He is
(not until we get to heaven);
and we do still sin even
after we have been saved
of our sins. We Christians
still sometimes hurt other
people or mess up because
of our sinful nature which all
human beings were born
with, an inheritance we got
from Adam, our ancestor
and the first man God
created. Once we have
become a Christian and
we mess up and sin, God
says if we confess our sin
to Him (God in heaven),
He will forgive us. So, true
Christians will be sorry
when we sin, and will ask
for God's forgiveness and
the forgiveness of the
person we may have hurt.
That is how we restore
our relationship with God
the Father in heaven and
with other people.
1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins,
he [God in heaven] is
faithful and just to forgive
us our sins, and to
cleanse us from all
unrighteousness.
There are many fake
Christians out there that say
they are Christians and give
Christ Jesus a bad name;
but are not truly Christians.
Christ Jesus called those
kinds of people "hypocrites"!
And he called out those
hypocrites many times
and said "Woe unto you".
Quite a warning to those
folks who were faking being
a Christian! Here is just one
example of Christ Jesus
calling out those religious
leaders who pretended to be
obedient to God, but it was
all for 'show' to receive the
praise of men for being
'holier than thou'.
Matthew
23:27 Woe unto you,
scribes and Pharisees,
hypocrites! for ye are like
unto whited sepulchres
[burial caves], which
indeed appear beautiful
outward, but are within
full of dead men's bones,
and of all uncleanness.
23:28 Even so ye also
outwardly appear righteous
unto men, but within ye are
full of hypocrisy and iniquity
[sin].
Jesus Christ, the Son of
God, loves you! He shed
his sinless blood on the
cross for my sins and yours,
and then he rose from the
grave, and 40 days later
he ascended back into
heaven! (And he was
witnessed alive after his
resurrection from the dead
by over 500 people at one
time, some of whom talked
with him, ate with him, and
even touched the wounds
he received when he was
nailed to the cross and
then stabbed in his side
by a soldier to make sure
he was dead.)
John (Jesus Christ:)
15:13 Greater love hath
no man than this, that a
man lay down his life for
his friends.
15:14 Ye are my friends,
if ye do whatsoever I
command you.
Life is short. Now is the
Life is short. Now is the
time to choose where you
would like to go for eternity -
heaven or hell. There is no
guarantee that you or I will
have tomorrow.
So, would you like to know
how to truly be saved from
your sins and know that you
will go to heaven when
you die? God's Way
to heaven is why I no
longer fear what comes
after death. There is
freedom in knowing how
to get rid of that fear!
How Can I Get To Heaven?
How can I be saved
from my sins and know
that I will go to heaven
when I die? God's Holy
Word, the King James
Bible, tells us how:
Agree with God in
heaven that you are
a sinner and need a
Saviour. GOD SAYS
WE ARE ALL
SINNERS. But keep
reading because
there is Good News
for you:
Romans 3:23
For all have sinned,
and come short of the
glory of God;
Be willing to turn from
your sin (repent).
Acts 17:30
And the times of this
ignorance God winked
at; but now commandeth
all men every where to
repent:
Believe that Jesus
Christ, the Sinless Son
of God, shed his blood
on the cross to pay
for your sins and
mine, was buried,
and that three
days later He rose
from the dead.
Romans 10:9
That if thou shalt confess
with thy mouth the Lord
Jesus, and shalt believe
in thine heart that God
hath raised him from
the dead, thou shalt
be saved.
Repent of trusting in
anything or anyone
other than Jesus
Christ (i.e. baptism,
good works, idols,
false gods, $/tithes,
man-made church
rules or traditions,
or religious
ceremonies) to
save you.
Titus 3:5
Not by works of
righteousness which we
have done, but according
to his mercy he saved us,
by the washing of
regeneration, and
renewing of the Holy
Ghost;
Jesus said that we do
not get to heaven by our
good works (stuff we
have done). See verses
7:22 and 7:23 below!
Matthew
7:21 Not every one that
saith unto me, Lord,
Lord, shall enter into
the kingdom of heaven;
but he that doeth the
will of my Father which
is in heaven.
7:22 Many will say to
me in that day, Lord,
Lord, have we not
prophesied in thy
name? and in thy
name have cast
out devils? and in
thy name done
many wonderful
works?
7:23 And then will I
profess unto them,
I never knew you:
depart from me, ye
that work iniquity.
Accept God's Free
Gift of eternal life
through his Sinless
Son, the Lord Jesus
Christ. It is a free gift
to you, but it cost Jesus
Christ his life! You do
not have to work to
earn a Gift - It is free!
Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is
death; but the gift of
God is eternal life
through Jesus Christ
our Lord.
Ask Jesus Christ to be
your personal Saviour
and Lord of your life.
Romans 10:13
For whosoever shall
call upon the name
of the Lord shall be
saved.
So, if you did that and
sincerely meant it,
then you are now a
Christian! Welcome
to the family.
Romans 10:9
That if thou shalt confess
with thy mouth the Lord
Jesus, and shalt believe
in thine heart that God
hath raised him from
the dead, thou shalt
be saved.
And when you die, you
will go straight to heaven
to be with Jesus Christ
forever and ever! The
following Bible verse
is one of my favorites.
It gave me comfort when
I went through double
breast cancer surgery
for I knew that if I died
on the operating table
I would immediately be
in heaven with Jesus!
Knowing that is why I
no longer fear what
comes after death.
What freedom there is
in knowing that.
2 Corinthians 5:8
We are confident, I say,
and willing rather to be
absent from the body,
and to be present with
the Lord.
One note to all dear
Catholics: The Catholic
church says that it is
wrong to believe that
you can know you are
saved before you die.
Please think about
this: God is a God of
love. After all he sent
his Son to die for your
sins so you could be
with him in heaven for
eternity! That is love!
Why would a God of love
want you to worry all of
your life whether you will
go to heaven or hell when
you die? God in heaven
wants us to have peace
and joy in this life as we
live for him and draw
others to him as their
Saviour. Only a cruel
God would want us
worried and stressed
about what comes after
death. But GOD LOVES
YOU and wants you to
have peace knowing that
you are saved now and
can know now that you
are going to heaven when
you die! Please trust your
loving heavenly Father's
Holy Word (the King James
Bible) when God tells you
that you will be with Him
after death if you trusted
Jesus Christ as your
Saviour!
And now that you have
become a Christian, it
is important to learn how
to live a life that glorifies
God in heaven who gave
you the Gift of salvation.
