Did Jesus Christ Claim To Be God?

Jesus Christ claimed that
He and his Father (God
in heaven) are one. You
cannot get any more
proof that Jesus did
claim to be God!

John 10:30
I and my Father are one.

Christ did claim to be
God!

The Jews wanted to kill
Jesus because he said
that God was his Father,
thereby making himself
equal to God.

Words in red are the
words of the Lord
Jesus Christ.

John

5:17 But Jesus answered
them, My Father worketh
hitherto, and I work.

5:18 Therefore the Jews
sought the more to kill
him, because he not
only had broken the
sabbath, but said also
that God was his
Father, making
himself equal with God.

Jesus told his disciple
Philip that because he
had seen him (Jesus),
he had seen the Father
(God)! So, Jesus was
telling Philip flat out
that he (Jesus) is God!

John 14:9
Jesus saith unto him, Have
I been so long time with you,
and yet hast thou not known
me, Philip? he that hath
seen me hath seen the
Father; and how sayest
thou then, Shew us the
Father?

After Jesus was
resurrected, he
appeared to his
disciples. After 'doubting
Thomas' touched Jesus'
wounds from the cross,
Thomas declared that
Jesus was God. Jesus
did not correct him
when Thomas called
him "his God".

John 20:28

And Thomas answered and
said unto him, My Lord and
my God.

Satan tempted Jesus in
the desert. In answer to
one of Satan's
temptations, Jesus
told Satan that he
should not tempt
"the Lord thy God".
And because Satan
was tempting Jesus,
Jesus was telling
Satan that he (Jesus)
is God!

Luke

4:12 And Jesus answering
said unto him [Satan], It
is said, Thou shalt not
tempt the Lord thy God.

These next two Bible verses
show us that Jesus is
claiming that he is "I AM",
which is the name that
God the Father in
heaven used for himself
when he spoke to Moses
at the burning bush.

Exodus 3:14

And God said unto Moses,
I AM THAT I AM: and he
said, Thus shalt thou
say unto the children
of Israel, I AM hath
sent me unto you.

John 8:58

Jesus said unto them,
Verily, verily, I say unto
you, Before Abraham
was, I am

The night before his
crucifixion Jesus was
praying, and his disciples
were sleeping in the
Garden of Gethsemane.
Judas brought a band
of soldiers to the garden
to arrest Jesus. When
the soldiers said they
were looking for Jesus
of Nazareth, Jesus
replied, "I AM he
and the band of
soldiers fell to the
ground! Once again
Jesus was declaring
himself to be "I AM", the
title God gave to himself!
And the power of that
holy name knocked
that band of soldiers
to the ground!

John
18:4 Jesus therefore,
knowing all things that
should come upon him,
went forth, and said
unto them, Whom
seek ye?

18:5 They answered him,
Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus
saith unto them, I am he.
And Judas also, which
betrayed him, stood
with them.

18:6 As soon then as he
had said unto them, I
am he, they went
backward, and fell
to the ground.

Jesus was worshiped
many times, but he
never rebuked people
for worshiping him.
The Bible says that
only God is to be
worshiped, thus
showing us that
Jesus is God!

Matthew 2:11
And when they were come
into the house, they saw
the young child
[Jesus] with Mary his
mother, and fell down,
and worshipped him
and when they had
opened their treasures,
they presented unto
him gifts; gold, and
frankincense, and
myrrh.

Matthew 14:33
Then they that were in the
ship came and worshipped
him, saying, Of a truth
thou art the Son of God.

Matthew 28:17
And when they saw him,
they worshipped him
but some doubted.

Matthew 28:9

And as they went to tell
his disciples, behold,
Jesus met them, saying,
All hail. And they came
and held him by the
feet, and worshipped
him.

Luke 24:52
And they worshipped
him, and returned to
Jerusalem with great
joy:

John 9:38
And he said, Lord, I believe.
And he worshipped him.

Jesus told the paralyzed
man that his sins were
forgiven, and since only
God can forgive sins,
Jesus was showing us
that he is God!

Luke

5:20 And when he saw
their faith, he said unto
him, Man, thy sins are
forgiven thee.

5:21 And the scribes
and the Pharisees began
to reason, saying, Who
is this which speaketh
blasphemies? Who
can forgive sins,
but God alone?

Jesus told us he is
God! And although
he never said those
exact words, "I am
God", you can see
by this Bible study
that Jesus Christ
did claim to be God
Almighty!

What an exciting
Bible study showing
us one more reason
to love, honor,
praise, and glorify
our loving Lord
and Saviour, Jesus
Christ!
