Who Saw Jesus After He Was Raised From The Dead?

This Bible study shows
accounts of the people
who saw Jesus Christ
alive after His resurrection
from the dead. These
proofs are just part of
what makes Christianity
so exciting! Our Lord,
Jesus Christ, is the
Only God of any
religion who has died
and then rose from
the dead!

Jesus was also seen alive
in a physical body by more
than 500 people after his
resurrection! In his
resurrected body Jesus
Christ walked with, talked
with, and ate with his
disciples and others. And
Thomas, the disciple who
doubted Jesus Christ was
alive again, got to touch
the wounds Jesus
received when He was
nailed to the cross;
proving that we too, will
have a physical body
like the one Jesus had
after we are raised to be
with Him in heaven!

Also, when Jesus Christ rose
from the dead, many dead
saints (those people who had
accepted Jesus Christ as
their personal Saviour),
rose from their graves and
went into the holy city
(Jerusalem) to declare
"to many" that there is a
resurrection from the
dead! So, there were
many witnesses to the
fact that true believers
in Jesus Christ's death and
resurrection will also be
raised up to be with Him
either at the Rapture or
when we die!

Matthew
27:52 And the graves were
opened; and many bodies
of the saints which slept
arose,

27:53 And came out of the
graves after his
resurrection, and went
into the holy city, and
appeared unto many.

The first person to see Jesus
Christ after His resurrection
was Mary Magdalene.

Mark 16:9
Now when Jesus was risen
early the first day of the
week, he appeared first to
Mary Magdalene, out of
whom he had cast seven
devils.

John
20:16 Jesus saith unto her,
Mary. She turned herself,
and saith unto him,
Rabboni; which is to say,
Master.

20:17 Jesus saith unto her,
Touch me not; for I am not
yet ascended to my
Father: but go to my
brethren [the disciples],
and say unto them, I
ascend unto my Father,
and your Father; and to
my God, and your God.

20:18 Mary Magdalene
came and told the disciples
that she had seen the
Lord, and that he had
spoken these things
unto her.

Then Jesus Christ
appeared to Simon. Simon
(Peter) is also called Cephas,
a name which Jesus Christ
gave to him which means
a stone (NOT A ROCK)!
(John 1:42).

John 1:42
And he brought him to
Jesus. And when Jesus
beheld him, he said,
Thou art Simon the son
of Jona: thou shalt be
called Cephas, which
is by interpretation, A
stone.

Luke 24:34
Saying, The Lord is risen
indeed, and hath appeared
to Simon.

1 Corinthians 15:5
And that he was seen of
Cephas, then of the
twelve:

Jesus Christ also
encountered two of his
followers as they were
traveling on the road to
Emmaus. Luke
24:13-24:34 has the
complete story. But the
main point here is that
they saw Him and
spoke with Him, and
as they went to share
a meal with Him, Jesus
Christ said a blessing
over the meal and then
the disciples' eyes were
opened and they
recognized Him.

Luke 24:31
And their eyes were opened,
and they knew him; and he
vanished out of their sight.

Then Jesus Christ
appeared
to eleven of his disciples and
others that were with them
as they ate. When they were
frightened, thinking that
they were seeing a ghost,
Jesus told them to touch
His hands and feet to see
that He had a physical body
just like theirs. (See verses
in Luke below.)

Mark 16:14
Afterward he appeared unto
the eleven as they sat at
meat, and upbraided them
with their unbelief and
hardness of heart, because
they believed not them
which had seen him after
he was risen.

Luke
24:33 And they rose up the
same hour, and returned to
Jerusalem, and found the
eleven gathered together,
and them that were with
them,

24:34 Saying, The Lord is
risen indeed, and hath
appeared to Simon.

24:35 And they told what
things were done in the way,
and how he was known of
them in breaking of bread.

24:36 And as they thus spake,
Jesus himself stood in the
midst of them, and saith unto
them, Peace be unto you.

24:37 But they were terrified
and affrighted, and supposed
that they had seen a spirit.

24:38 And he said unto them,
Why are ye troubled? and
why do thoughts arise in
your hearts?

24:39 Behold my hands and
my feet, that it is I myself:
handle me, and see; for a
spirit hath not flesh and
bones, as ye see me have.

John 20:19
Then the same day at evening,
being the first day of the week,
when the doors were shut
where the disciples were
assembled for fear of the
Jews, came Jesus and
stood in the midst, and
saith unto them, Peace
be unto you.

Then eight days later He
appeared to His eleven
disciples (minus Judas
Iscariot who betrayed Jesus
Christ and then hanged
himself).

John 20:26
And after eight days again
his disciples were within,
and Thomas with them:
then came Jesus, the doors
being shut, and stood in the
midst, and said, Peace be
unto you.

Then for third time Jesus
appeared to seven of his
disciples, this time by Lake
Tiberias, also known as
the Sea of Galilee.

John
21:1 After these things Jesus
shewed himself again to the
disciples at the sea of
Tiberias; and on this wise
shewed he himself.

21:2 There were together
Simon Peter, and Thomas
called Didymus, and
Nathanael of Cana in
Galilee, and the sons of
Zebedee, and two other
of his disciples.

21:14 This is now the third
time that Jesus shewed
himself to his disciples, after
that he was risen from the
dead.

Then Jesus Christ appeared
to a crowd of 500 brethren
(followers/disciples).

1 Corinthians 15:6
After that, he was seen of
above five hundred brethren
at once; of whom the greater
part remain unto this present,
but some are fallen asleep
[have died].

Then Jesus Christ appeared
to one of his half-brothers,
James.

1 Corinthians 15:7
After that, he was seen of
James; then of all the
apostles.

Then Jesus Christ appeared
to the eleven disciples in
Galilee.

Matthew
28:16 Then the eleven
disciples went away into
Galilee, into a mountain
where Jesus had appointed
them.

28:17 And when they saw
him, they worshipped him:
but some doubted.

Then Jesus Christ appeared
to the eleven disciples in
Jerusalem - (Even though
these two verses don't say
they are in Jerusalem, we
know they are because
earlier in this chapter it tells
about the women going to
the tomb where Christ was
buried and that location
was in Jerusalem.)

Mark
16:14 Afterward he appeared
unto the eleven as they sat
at meat, and upbraided
them with their unbelief
and hardness of heart,
because they believed not
them which had seen him
after he was risen.

16:15 And he said unto them,
Go ye into all the world, and
preach the gospel to every
creature.

During the forty days following
His resurrection, Jesus Christ
met with His twelve disciples,
teaching them about the
kingdom of God so they could
spread the good news of the
gospel of salvation through
faith in Jesus Christ's death
for our sins and resurrection
from the dead. Forty days
after His resurrection, Jesus
Christ ascended into heaven
witnessed by His disciples.

Luke
24:50 And he led them out as
far as to Bethany, and he
lifted up his hands, and
blessed them.

24:51 And it came to pass,
while he blessed them, he
was parted from them,
and carried up into heaven.

Years later, while he was
being stoned to death,
Stephen saw the
resurrected Jesus Christ
standing at the right hand
of God the Father in
heaven.

Acts 7:55
But he, being full of the Holy
Ghost, looked up stedfastly
into heaven, and saw the
glory of God, and Jesus
standing on the right hand
of God,

Years later, Jesus Christ
appeared to Saul, who had
been persecuting Christ's
followers. After Saul
accepted Jesus Christ as
His Lord and Saviour, Jesus
renamed him Paul. Paul
then went and wrote many
of the New Testament Books
of the Bible; and led many
to salvation through Jesus
Christ.

Acts 9:5
And he said, Who art thou,
Lord? And the Lord said, I am
Jesus whom thou persecutest:
it is hard for thee to kick
against the pricks*.

*I did an online research in
order to understand the
phrase "kick against the
pricks" to better understand
this verse. During the first
century a large percentage
of people were farmers
who used oxen to work
the soil. If the animal
rebelled against working,
the farmer would poke
him with a wooden shaft
that had a pointed spike
(a prick) on one end. And
if the oxen continued to
rebel, he suffered all the
more because the spike
would be driven deeper.
This is an analogy that
Christ used to explain to
Paul that because he
(Paul) was pricking
Christians by persecuting
them, and because of his
rebellion against God, he
would suffer.

1 Corinthians 15:8
And last of all he was seen
of me [Paul] also, as of one
born out of due time.

So, the Good News is that
Jesus Christ, our Lord and
Saviour, is alive! He's in
heaven interceding with God
the Father in heaven on our
behalf as Satan, the accuser
accuses us before God. And,
Jesus said He is building
us a mansion to live in for
when we get there!

Romans 8:34
Who is he that condemneth?
It is Christ that died, yea
rather, that is risen again,
who is even at the right hand
of God, who also maketh
intercession for us.

John 14:2
In my Father's house are
mansions: if it were not so,
I would have told you. I go
to prepare a place for you.

So, then how do we get
saved from our sins and
go to heaven when we
die? God's Holy Word,
the King James Bible,
tells us how.

Realize you are a sinner.
(God says we are ALL
sinners.)

Romans 3:23
For all have sinned, and
come short of the glory
of God;

Believe that Jesus Christ,
the Son of God, died for
your sins.

Romans 5:8
But God commendeth
his love toward us, in
that, while we were
yet sinners, [Jesus]
Christ died for us.

Repent of trusting
in anything other
than Jesus Christ
[i.e. good works]
to save you.

Titus 3:5
Not by works of
righteousness [i.e.,
good deeds, religious
ceremonies, money,
church traditions,
etc.] which we
have done, but
according to his
mercy he saved us,
by the washing of
regeneration, and
renewing of the
Holy Ghost;

Accept the gift of God
that is eternal life
through his Son,
the Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is
death; but the gift
of God is eternal life
through Jesus Christ
our Lord.

Jesus said we must
repent of our sins. To
repent means to have
a change of heart -
that we now desire to
turn away from our
sins and start living
in obedience to God
in heaven.

Luke 13:3
I tell you, Nay: but,
except ye repent, ye
shall all likewise
perish.

God tells us that as
many as received
Jesus as their
personal Saviour,
and believe on
his name, he
gave them power
to become the
sons of God.

So, if you accepted
Jesus Christ as
your Saviour and
Lord of your life,
you are now a
child of God!
Congratulations!

John 1:12
But as many as
received him
[Jesus Christ], to
them gave he power to
become the sons of God,
even to them that believe
on his name.

It's important to learn
how to live a life that
honors God once you
accept Jesus as your
Saviour. Here is a link

I Do Now That I Am
Saved?' Link here.
