How Can I Defend Against Satan's Attacks?

If you want to defend
against an enemy, you
need to know all about
that enemy in order to
know what their strong
points are. Please read
all of this important
Bible study. I pray that
it helps you.

You also need to know
what your weak
points are, meaning
things that tempt you to
sin, i.e., focusing on
the stuff of this world
instead of focusing on
our Lord and Saviour
Jesus Christ and
sharing him with
others. Some of the
stuff that tempts us to
sin is spending a great
bit of our shopping and
spending money, and
focusing on enjoying
ourselves in this
world (I, too, am guilty
of this) instead of
focusing on sharing
our Lord Jesus Christ
before it's too late as
Jesus says we are
living in the last days,
and God is going to
judge the world of its
sin of rejecting Jesus
Christ as their
Saviour. My biggest time
waster is television;
and although I try to
find Christian movies
and documentaries to
watch, I still spend
way too much time
watching TV instead
of sharing how to get
to heaven with others
on my website. I do
not go out much so I
rarely meet people to
share in person. But
when I do shop 'in
person', I will leave a
gospel tract here and
there so hopefully some
dear person will get
saved and go to heaven
when they die. That is
what Jesus told us was
our mission - to share
his death, burial, and
resurrection for their
sins.

Now, back to defending
against Satan's attacks...

This knowledge of our
weaknesses is an
important tool in being
prepared to defend
yourself against
Satan's attacks when
he tempts you to sin
against God. In Luke
4:1 to 4:13 Jesus
Christ used Bible
verses to defeat
Satan’s temptations!

First, before we
get into our Bible
study...

Here is a very comforting
thought for Christians.
Satan is NOT equal to
God! Lucifer (Satan) was
created by God as an
angel. Lucifer was
renamed Satan (the
Devil, and other names)
after he sinned against
God)!

In Job 1:6 - 1:12 and
2:1 - 2:7 you will see
that Satan had to get
both the permission
and the power from
God in heaven in
order to persecute
the godly man, Job.
He could do nothing
without God's
permission and
without God's power!

Now to our study.
Satan is the enemy of
all Christians. Why?
Let's find out what
God's Holy Word, the
King James Bible says.

1 Peter 5:8

Be sober, be vigilant;
because your
adversary the devil,
as a roaring lion,
walketh about, seeking
whom he may devour:

John 10:10 (Jesus
said:)
The thief* cometh not,
but for to steal, and to
kill, and to destroy: I
am come that they
might have life, and
that they might have it
more abundantly.
[*Satan, the Devil]

Please forgive me for
not adding all of
these verses as I
usually do in my Bible
studies, but then this
post would probably
be a 'mile' long! I
hope you will take
the time to read some
of these long sets of
verses in your own
King James Bible to
add to your
understanding of our
enemy, Satan (the
Devil).

First, here are some
facts about Satan's
beginning:

1. God created Satan
(Ezekiel 28:13 - 28:15).
Originally God called
him Lucifer (Isaiah
14:12 - 14:15).

2. Lucifer was perfect
when God in heaven
created him, until sin
was found in him
(Ezekiel 28:15).

3. When Lucifer was
created by God he
was called the
anointed cherub
(a type of angel)
(Ezekiel 28:14).

4. God created Lucifer
as a beautiful angel,
and Lucifer became
very proud of himself
(Ezekiel 28:17).

5. Lucifer decided that
he wanted to be
exalted above God
(Isaiah 14:13-14).

6. Lucifer appeared as
a serpent in the Garden
of Eden and tempted
Eve to disobey God
(to sin). I wonder if
before sin the serpent
was a much more
pleasant creature to
look upon than snakes
we see today. Just a
guess on my part that
maybe the 'prettiness'
of the serpent helped
to persuade Eve to
listen to his lies about
God and to sin.

God had commanded
Adam to not eat of 'the
tree of the knowledge
of good and evil' or he
and Eve would surely
die (Genesis 2:17).

Eve surely knew of
this command
because she said
as much to the
serpent in Genesis
3:2 and 3:3.

Then Satan lied and
told Eve that she
and Adam would
not die if they ate
of the forbidden tree
(even though God
said they would). But,
Satan lied and said
that they would
become “as gods”
in Genesis 3:5 (which
they did not become).

Then Eve tempted
Adam to sin. (Genesis
3:6) Adam knowingly
disobeyed God and
obeyed his wife
instead. When they
both disobeyed God;
they brought sin and
death into the world
to all people. (Genesis
2:17 and 3:3)

Here are different
Bible names for
Lucifer / Satan that
tell us a lot about

Satan (formerly called
Lucifer) had followers
- other fallen angels
who rebelled against
GOD along with
Satan.

2 Peter 2:4
For if God spared not
the angels that sinned,
but cast them down to
hell, and delivered
them into chains of
darkness, to be reserved
unto judgment;

Jude 1:6
And the angels which
kept not their first
estate, but left their
own habitation, he
hath reserved in
everlasting chains
under darkness unto
the judgment of the
great day.

Satan tempts us to sin
against God!

*Satan tempted Jesus
Christ when he was in
the desert for 40 days
and 40 nights. Read
the details in Luke
4:1 - 4:13.

Luke 4:2
Being forty days
tempted of the devil.
And in those days
he did eat nothing: and
when they were
ended, he afterward
hungered.

*The devil (Satan)
entered into Judas
Iscariot’s heart to
betray Jesus Christ.

John 13:2
And supper being
ended, the devil
having now put into
the heart of Judas
Iscariot, Simon's
son, to betray him;

*Satan tempted the
Apostle Peter.

Luke 22:31
And the Lord said,
Simon, Simon, behold,
Satan hath desired to
have you, that he may
sift you as wheat:

*Satan tempted Jesus
Christ through the
Apostle Peter. Peter
told Jesus that he should
not go to Jerusalem so
that He wouldn't be killed.
But Jesus knew that
this was a temptation
by Satan through
Peter in order to
keep Jesus Christ from
dying for the sins
of the world, and being
resurrected from the
dead to pay our sin debt
in full!

Mark
8:31 And he began to
teach them, that the
Son of man* must suffer
many things, and be
rejected of the elders,
and of the chief priests,
and scribes, and be
killed, and after three
days rise again.
[*Jesus Christ]

8:32  And he spake
that saying openly.
And Peter took him,
and began to rebuke
him.

8:33  But when he had
turned about and
looked on his disciples,
he rebuked Peter,
saying, Get thee
behind me, Satan:
for thou savourest
not the things that
be of God, but the
things that be of
men.

*Satan tempted the
godly man Job to try
and get him to curse
God.

In Job Chapter 1,
Satan told God that
Job only worshiped
Him because of all
the good things God
had given him. So
God gave Satan the
permission and the
power to take away
Job's possessions,
house, family, and
livestock to prove Job
would still be faithful
to God. In verse 22 it
says that Job did not
sin, nor did he curse
God even after all
those bad things
happened to him.
Satan’s temptations
of Job continue
through the long
Book of Job; but
Job continues to
trust God through
it all.

SO, HOW CAN WE
PROTECT
OURSELVES FROM
SATAN'S
TEMPTATIONS?

James, Jesus’
half-brother, said
that we should
submit (yield)
ourselves to God
in order to send
the devil fleeing
from us.

James 4:7
Submit yourselves
therefore to God.
Resist the devil, and
he will flee from you.

We must put on the
whole armor of God,
in order to withstand
the deviousness of
the devil. What is
that armour?

Ephesians
6:11 Put on the
whole armour of
God, that ye may
be able to stand
against the wiles
of the devil.

6:12 For we wrestle
not against flesh
and blood, but
against principalities,
against powers,
against the rulers of
the darkness of this
world, against
spiritual wickedness
in high places.

6:13 Wherefore take
unto you the whole
armour of God, that
ye may be able to
withstand in the evil
day, and having done
all, to stand.

6:14 Stand therefore,
having your loins girt*
about with truth, and
having on the
breastplate of
righteousness;
[*surrounded]

6:15 And your feet
shod with the
preparation of the
gospel of peace;

6:16 Above all, taking
the shield of faith,
wherewith ye shall
be able to quench all
the fiery darts of the
wicked.

6:17 And take the
helmet of salvation,
and the sword of
the Spirit, which is
the word of God:

It's comforting to know
that our Lord Jesus
Christ understands
our temptations,
because he was also
tempted of Satan for
40 days and 40
nights in the desert.

Hebrews 2:18
For in that he himself
hath suffered being
tempted, he is able
to succour them
that are tempted.

The Lord Jesus
Christ can deliver
us out of all
temptations.

2 Peter 2:9
The Lord knoweth
how to deliver the
godly out of
temptations, and to
reserve the unjust
unto the day of
judgment to be
punished:

God will not allow us
to be tempted beyond
what we are able to
take. And, he will
make a way for us
to escape so that
we can bear it.

1 Corinthians 10:13
There hath no
temptation taken you
but such as is
common to man: but
God is faithful, who will
not suffer you to be
tempted above that
ye are able; but will
with the temptation
also make a way to
escape, that ye may
be able to bear it.

But, the good news
is that Lucifer (Satan,
the Devil) will
eventually be cast
into hell!

Isaiah
14:12 How art thou
fallen from heaven,
O Lucifer, son of the
morning! how art thou
cut down to the ground,
which didst weaken
the nations!

14:13 For thou hast
said in thine heart, I
will ascend into
heaven, I will exalt
my throne above the
stars of God: I will sit
also upon the mount
of the congregation,
in the sides of the
north:

14:14 I will ascend
above the heights of
the clouds; I will be
like the most High.

14:15 Yet thou shalt
be brought down to
hell, to the sides of
the pit.

If you know what areas
of your life lead you into
being tempted to sin
against God, you can
avoid going to those
places, avoid those
people who lead you
away from obeying
God's Word (the
Bible), and praying
to God to give you
the strength to resist
the 'pull' of that
particular sin that
keeps tugging at
you to just indulge
yourself.

Our Lord Jesus Christ
told us if we would be
his follower, we should
deny ourselves (not
easy to do), and take
up our cross and
follow him. I believe it
to mean that we resist
the devil's temptations
to sin; and ask God
always to help us to
resist those
temptations to indulge
ourselves in this world
and to focus on Jesus
Christ coming soon,
and sharing Him with
others! So, I just need
to not focus on me and
what I want but what
God wants me to do
for Him! Dear God,
please help me to not
indulge myself, but to
focus on sharing you
because you are
coming back soon to
judge the world and
we want to take as
many people as
possible with us to
heaven!!

Mark 8:34
And when he had called the
people unto him with his
disciples also, he said unto
them, Whosoever will come
after me, let him deny
himself, and take up his
cross, and follow me.

If you died today do you
know where you would
spend eternity - heaven or
hell? Here is how to know
for sure so you never
have to worry about what
comes after death.

How Can I Get To Heaven?

How can I be saved
from my sins and know
that I will go to heaven
when I die? God's Holy
Word, the King James
Bible, tells us how:

Agree with God in
heaven that you are
sinner and need
Saviour. GOD SAYS
WE ARE ALL
SINNERS. But keep
reading because
there is Good News
for you:

Romans 3:23
For all have sinned,
and come short of the
glory of God;

Be willing to turn from
your sin (repent).

Acts 17:30
And the times of this
ignorance God winked
at; but now commandeth
all men every where to
repent:

Believe that Jesus
Christ, the Sinless Son
of God, shed his blood
on the cross to pay
for your sins and
mine; and that three
days later He rose
from the dead.

Romans 10:9
That if thou shalt confess
with thy mouth the Lord
Jesus, and shalt believe
in thine heart that God
hath raised him from
the dead, thou shalt
be saved.

Repent of trusting in
anything or anyone
other than Jesus
Christ (i.e. baptism,
good works, idols,
false gods, $/tithes
man-made church
rules or traditions,
or religious
ceremonies) to
save you.

Titus 3:5
Not by works of
righteousness which we
have done, but according
to his mercy he saved us,
by the washing of
regeneration, and
renewing of the Holy
Ghost;

Jesus said that we do
not get to heaven by our
good works (stuff we
have done). See verses
7:22 and 7:23 below!

Matthew
7:21 Not every one that
saith unto me, Lord,
Lord, shall enter into
the kingdom of heaven;
but he that doeth the
will of my Father which
is in heaven.

7:22 Many will say to
me in that day, Lord,
Lord, have we not
prophesied in thy
name? and in thy
name have cast
out devils? and in
thy name done
many wonderful
works?

7:23 And then will I
profess unto them,
I never knew you:
depart from me, ye
that work iniquity.

Accept God's Free
Gift of eternal life
through his Sinless
Son, the Lord Jesus
Christ. It is a free gift
to you, but it cost Jesus
Christ his life! You do
not have to work to
earn a Gift - It is free!

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is
death; but the gift of
God is eternal life
through Jesus Christ
our Lord.

Ask Jesus Christ to be
your personal Saviour
and Lord of your life.

Romans 10:13
For whosoever shall
call upon the name
of the Lord shall be
saved.

So, if you did that and
sincerely meant it,
then you are now a
Christian! Welcome
to the family.

Romans 10:9
That if thou shalt confess
with thy mouth the Lord
Jesus, and shalt believe
in thine heart that God
hath raised him from
the dead, thou shalt
be saved.

And when you die, you
will go straight to heaven
to be with Jesus Christ
forever and ever! The
following Bible verse
is one of my favorites.
It gave me comfort when
I went through double
breast cancer surgery
for I knew that if I died
on the operating table
I would immediately be
in heaven with Jesus!
Knowing that is why I
no longer fear what
comes after death.
What freedom there is
in knowing that.

2 Corinthians 5:8
We are confident, I say,
and willing rather to be
absent from the body,
and to be present with
the Lord.

One note to all dear
Catholics: The Catholic
church says that it is
wrong to believe that
you can know you are
saved before you die.
Please think about
this: God is a God of
love. After all he sent
his Son to die for your
sins so you could be
with him in heaven for
eternity! That is love!
Why would a God of love
want you to worry all of
your life whether you will
go to heaven or hell when
you die? God in heaven
wants us to have peace
and joy in this life as we
live for him and draw
others to him as their
Saviour. Only a cruel
God would want us
worried and stressed
about what comes after
death. But GOD LOVES
YOU and wants you to
have peace knowing that
you are saved now and
can know now that you
are going to heaven when
you die! Please trust your
loving heavenly Father's
Holy Word (the King James
Bible) when God tells you
that you will be with Him
after death if you trusted
Jesus Christ as your
Saviour!

And now that you have
become a Christian, it
is important to learn how
to live a life that glorifies
God in heaven who gave
you the Gift of salvation.
