The Bible On Slavery And Racial Prejudice

Before we get into our
Bible study, let me remind
you that Jesus Christ
could not have been
'white-skinned'
(Caucasian)! Jesus
was born in Israel, a
mostly desert country.
Before he began his
ministry, he was a
carpenter like his
step-father, Joseph,
and probably worked
outside a lot. And
during his three year
ministry Jesus walked
everywhere, all over
Israel. He was constantly
outside in the hot desert
sun. His skin would have
been dark or perhaps
olive-skin color as a Jew
would be. So, he was not
'white' as so many
prejudiced people would
have you think. Think
about it.

Now to what the Bible
says about slavery and
prejudice...

On television I heard a
'preacher' say that the
Bible condones slavery.
That is not true! The
Bible tells us that
slavery is wrong,
and it was punishable
by death!

Exodus 21:16

And he that stealeth a
man, and selleth him,
or if he be found in his
hand, he shall surely
be put to death.

God made all human
beings of "one blood"
(see Acts 17:26 below),
so no one people group
should think that they
are any better than any
other people group
because we are all
the same in God's
eyes no matter what
color our skin is or
what nation we come
from!

And I have seen some
Caucasian people who
loved to get so tan that
their skin is as dark, if
not darker than, any
'black' person! If the
people who hate others
because of their 'black'
skin, then why don't
they hate the Caucasian
people who get so
tanned that their skin
is even darker than
any 'black' person?!
Do you see how
ridiculous and illogical
their prejudice is?

Acts
17:24 God that made the
world and all things
therein, seeing that he
is Lord of heaven and
earth, dwelleth not in
temples made with
hands;

17:25 Neither is
worshipped with men's
hands, as though he
needed any thing,
seeing he giveth to
all life, and breath,
and all things;

17:26 And hath made
of one blood all
nations of men for
to dwell on all the
face of the earth, and
hath determined the
times before appointed,
and the bounds of their
habitation;

Adam and Eve, the first
man and woman, were
created in the image of
God! And every human
being ever born into
this world is descended
from them (except for
Jesus Christ who had
no earthly father). So,
remember that we are
all related to every
other person on this
planet (God says so!) -
no matter what their
skin color - so that no
one people group
should think they are
better than any other
people group!

Genesis 1:27
So God created man
in his own image, in
the image of God
created he him;
male and female
created he them.
