The Shroud of Turin Is Not Of Jesus!

I had a dream one night,
and every night that week.
Over and over I felt called
in my dreams to write this
post on the Shroud of Turin.

The Shroud of Turin shows
the image of a man with
long hair. This could not
be of Jesus because
Jesus did not have long
hair. Why do I say that?
Because the Bible tells
us that it is a shame for
a man to have long hair.
Jesus would not go
against God's Holy Word!

1 Corinthians 11:14
Doth not even nature itself
teach you, that, if a man
have long hair, it is a
shame unto him?

I hope you will keep
reading because this is
a very interesting Bible
study!

There were several men in
the Bible who did have
long hair (Samson was
one example of one of
them. See Judges 13:5),
but these men were
Nazarites. What that
means is that these men
would, usually for a
temporary period of time,
take a vow to God to set
themselves apart to Him.
During the time of their
vow they would follow
certain rules. Numbers
6:1-6 explains that the
Nazarites would...

1) not drink wine or
strong drink.

2) not cut their hair
(for the period of time
while under their vow).

3) not touch a dead body.

Jesus could not have
been a Nazarite
because (1) He
drank wine with His
disciples at the Last
Supper.

Mark 14:25 (Jesus said:)
Verily I say unto you,
I will drink no more of
the fruit of the vine,
until that day that I
drink it new in the
kingdom of God.

Jesus also could not be
a Nazarite because (2)
He touched dead bodies
when He raised them
from the dead. Here
is just one example...

Matthew
9:18  While he spake
these things unto them,
behold, there came a
certain ruler, and
worshipped him,
saying, My daughter
is even now dead:
but come and lay thy
hand upon her, and
she shall live.

9:25  But when the people
were put forth, he [Jesus]
went in, and took her by
the hand, and the maid
arose.

So, Jesus could not be a
Nazarite after drinking
wine and touching dead
bodies. That would mean
that Jesus would not
have let his hair grow
long as a Nazarite does.

I think people get confused
between the term Nazarite
and Nazarene. Jesus was
not a Nazarite. He was a
Nazarene, which just
means that he came
from the town of Nazareth.

Also, the Shroud of Turin
shows a man's face and
figure on one whole cloth;
but that does not coincide
with what the Bible tells
us about Jesus' burial
clothes. In the Bible when
the disciples found the
burial cloths in Jesus'
tomb, the main body
cloth was separate from
the cloth that covered
Jesus' face, as was
the custom when the
Jews buried their dead.

John
20:6 Then cometh Simon
Peter following him, and
went into the sepulchre,
and seeth the linen clothes
lie,

20:7 And the napkin,
that was about his head,
not lying with the linen
clothes, but wrapped
together in a place by
itself.

Also, the Shroud of Turin
could not be 'of Jesus'
because God the Father
in heaven commanded
us (in the Ten
Commandments and
elsewhere in the Bible)
that we should not
worship other gods /
idols! God also said
that we should not
worship the image of
any ‘thing’ that is in
the earth, and that
would include the
Shroud of Turin!

Exodus
20:3 Thou shalt have no
other gods before me.

20:4 Thou shalt not
make unto thee any
graven image, or any
likeness of any thing
that is in heaven above,
or that is in the earth
beneath, or that is in
the water under the earth:

20:5 Thou shalt not bow
down thyself to them,
nor serve them: for I
the LORD thy God am
a jealous God, visiting
the iniquity of the fathers
upon the children unto
the third and fourth
generation of them
that hate me;

God wants us to
worship Him and
our Saviour, Jesus
Christ, who is alive and
sitting at the right hand
of God in heaven, and
not worship a piece of
cloth! What a waste
of time trying to prove
this cloth was of Jesus,
because if those people
doing research on the
Shroud of Turin knew
their Bible, they would
know that it could not
be of Jesus.

The simple definition of an
"idol" from the Merriam
Webster dictionary is 'a
picture or object that is
worshipped as a god'.

Listen to what God
thinks about our
worshiping things
instead of Him! Note that
God does not take it
lightly when we worship
these things. Here is
what He says about that:

Exodus 34:14
For thou shalt worship
no other god: for the
LORD, whose name
is Jealous, is a jealous
God:

Deuteronomy 4:24
For the LORD thy God
is a consuming fire,
even a jealous God.

Deuteronomy
6:14 Ye shall not go
after other gods, of the
gods of the people
which are round about
you;

6:15 (For the LORD thy
God is a jealous God
among you) lest the
anger of the LORD thy
God be kindled against
thee, and destroy thee
from off the face of the
earth.

1 Chronicles 16:26
For all the gods of the
people are idols: but
the LORD made the
heavens.

Isaiah 2:18
And the idols he shall
utterly abolish.

Ezekiel
14:5 That I may take the
house of Israel in their
own heart, because
they are all estranged
from me through
their idols.

14:6 Therefore say unto the
house of Israel, Thus saith
the Lord GOD; Repent,
and turn yourselves
from your idols; and
turn away your faces
from all your abominations.
[*abominations are things
of extreme hatred to God]

In conclusion, please
don't worship 'things'.
Worship God the Father
in heaven and the
Lord Jesus Christ,
who suffered and died
for your sins and mine
on the cross and was
raised from the dead!

What good does it do for
you to value or worship
a piece of cloth? That
cloth can not do
anything for you! It is
an inanimate object
that can be destroyed. It
has no life in it and
therefore cannot
respond to your
worship!

Don't anger God the
Father in heaven by
worshiping some ‘thing
that has no eternal value.
Worship God.

Focus on getting to
know God and His
Precious Son, Jesus
Christ through prayer and
through His Holy Word,
the King James Bible! It
will bring you joy, peace,
contentment, and
closeness with God.
