Old Testament Priests Were Married!

In reading several chapters
of my Bible again every night,
I ran into some verses that
spoke about two priests'
sons. That intrigued me
because I've never heard
any preacher or teacher
talk about that subject,
hence, this Bible study.

The following verses show
that all of these priests had
sons and daughters, and
one passage gives the
name of the priest's wife.

I say this out of my love for
all Catholic people...perhaps
if the Catholic Church
allowed their priests and
nuns to marry as the Bible
says the priests did in the
Old Testament, the
Catholic church wouldn't
have the problems of
homosexuals and lesbians,
and fornicators (unmarried
people who have a sex
with other unmarried
people), and those
who prey on innocents.

Now, here are those many
Scripture verses that show
that the Old Testament
priests were married,
and many had children.

1 Samuel 1:3
And this man went up out
of his city yearly to worship
and to sacrifice unto the
LORD of hosts in Shiloh.
And the two sons of Eli,
Hophni and Phinehas,
the priests of the LORD
were there.

[Bold is for emphasis]

Leviticus 13:2

When a man shall have in
the skin of his flesh a rising,
a scab, or bright spot, and
it be in the skin of his flesh
like the plague of leprosy;
then he shall be brought
unto Aaron the priest, or
unto one of his sons
the priests:

Deuteronomy 21:5

And the priests the sons
of Levi shall come near;
for them the LORD thy
God hath chosen to
minister unto him, and
to bless in the name of
the LORD; and by their
word shall every
controversy and every
stroke be tried:

Judges 18:30

And the children of Dan set
up the graven image: and
Jonathan, the son of
Gershom, the son of
Manasseh, he and his
sons were priests to
the tribe of Dan until
the day of the captivity
of the land.

1 Chronicles 9:30

And some of the sons of
the priests made the
ointment of the spices.

Ezra 10:18

And among the sons of
the priests there were
found that had taken
strange wives: namely,
of the sons of Jeshua
the son of Jozadak, and
his brethren; Maaseiah,
and Eliezer, and Jarib,
and Gedaliah.

Nehemiah 12:35

And certain of the priests'
sons with trumpets;
namely, Zechariah the
son of Jonathan, the son
of Shemaiah, the son of
Mattaniah, the son of
Michaiah, the son of
Zaccur, the son of
Asaph:

2 Samuel 15:27

The king said also unto
Zadok the priest, Art not
thou a seer? return into the
city in peace, and your
two sons with you,
Ahimaaz thy son, and
Jonathan the son of
Abiathar.

1 Kings 1:42
And while he yet spake,
behold, Jonathan the
son of Abiathar the
priest came: and
Adonijah said unto him,
Come in; for thou art a
valiant man, and
bringest good tidings.

Numbers 3:32

And Eleazar the son of
Aaron the priest shall be
chief over the chief of the
Levites, and have the
oversight of them that
keep the charge of the
sanctuary.

Joshua 22:13

And the children of Israel
sent unto the children of
Reuben, and to the
children of Gad, and to
the half tribe of
Manasseh, into the
land of Gilead,
Phinehas the son
of Eleazar the priest,

1 Samuel 14:3

And Ahiah, the son of
Ahitub, Ichabod's brother,
the son of Phinehas, the
son of Eli, the LORD'S
priest in Shiloh, wearing
an ephod. And the people
knew not that Jonathan
was gone.

1 Chronicles 27:5

The third captain of the
host for the third month
was Benaiah the son
of Jehoiada, a chief
priest: and in his
course were twenty
and four thousand.

2 Chronicles 22:11

But Jehoshabeath, the
daughter of the king, took
Joash the son of Ahaziah,
and stole him from
among the king's sons
that were slain, and put
him and his nurse in a
bedchamber. So
Jehoshabeath, the
daughter of king
Jehoram, the wife
of Jehoiada the priest
(for she was the sister
of Ahaziah,) hid him
from Athaliah, so that
she slew him not.

2 Chronicles 24:20

And the Spirit of God came
upon Zechariah the son
of Jehoiada the priest,
which stood above the
people, and said unto
them, Thus saith God,
Why transgress ye the
commandments of the
LORD, that ye cannot
prosper? because ye
have forsaken the LORD,
he hath also forsaken
you.

Ezra 8:33

Now on the fourth day was
the silver and the gold and
the vessels weighed in
the house of our God by
the hand of Meremoth
the son of Uriah the
priest; and with him was
Eleazar the son of
Phinehas; and with them
was Jozabad the son of
Jeshua, and Noadiah
the son of Binnui,
Levites;

Nehemiah 13:28

And one of the sons of
Joiada, the son of
Eliashib the high priest,
was son in law to
Sanballat the Horonite:
therefore I chased him
from me.

I hope that this Bible
study has been helpful
to you.

God made THE
WAY to get into His
Holy Heaven. God's
Holy Word, the King
James Bible, tells us
how to do that.

How Can I Be Saved?
How can you be
saved from your
sins and know that
you will go to
heaven when you
die? God's Holy
Word, the King
James Bible, tells
us how.

By the way, God is a
loving heavenly Father
who does not want us
worrying our whole
lives whether we will
got to heaven or hell
when we die, and
that is why He told us
in His Holy Word how
to KNOW that we
will go to heaven
when we die. When
we know that, we are
at peace with God
because we never
have to worry about
what comes after
death. This promise
of God is what gave
me joy and peace
when I went through
double breast cancer
surgery! Now, here
is that Good News:

FIRST, DEAR
READER, PLEASE
FORGIVE ME FOR
SOMETIMES USING
LARGE PRINT, OR
CAPITAL OR BOLD
LETTERS. I DO NOT
MEAN TO SOUND
LIKE I AM
SCREAMING. IT IS
JUST THAT SATAN
HATES THIS
MESSAGE AND
THE TEXT KEEPS
COMING OUT IN
VERY TINY
PRINT THAT IS
ALMOST
UNREADABLE.

NOW TO OUR
BIBLE STUDY:

Agree with
God in heaven
that you are
sinner and need
Saviour.
GOD
SAYS WE ARE
ALL SINNERS.
But keep reading
because there is
Good News for
you:

Romans 3:23
For all have
sinned, and
come short of the
glory of God;

Believe that Jesus
Christ, the Sinless
Son of God, died
on the cross to
pay for your sins
and mine. Three
days later He
rose from the
dead.

Romans 5:8
But God
commendeth
his love toward
us, in that, while
we were yet
sinners, Christ
died for us.

Repent of
trusting in
anything or
anyone other
than Jesus
Christ (i.e.
baptism, good
works, money/
tithes, man-made
church traditions,
or religious
ceremonies]
to save you.

Titus 3:5
Not by works of
righteousness
which we have
done, but
according to his
mercy he saved
us, by the
washing of
regeneration, and
renewing of the
Holy Ghost;

Accept God's
Free Gift of
eternal life
through his
Sinless Son,
the Lord Jesus
Christ. It is a
free gift to you;
but it cost Jesus
Christ his life!
You do not have
to work to earn
a Gift - It is free!

Romans 6:23
For the wages of
sin is death; but
the gift of God
is eternal life
through Jesus
Christ our Lord.

God tells us that
as many as
received Jesus
Christ as their
Saviour and
believed on his
name, he gave
them power to
become the sons
[and daughters]
of God the Father
in heaven!

John 1:12
But as many as
received him, to
them gave he
power to
become the
sons of God,
even to them
that believe
on his name.

So, if you just
accepted Jesus
Christ as your
personal Saviour
and asked God
the Father in
Heaven to forgive
you of your sins
and told Him that
you believe that
Jesus Christ, His
Sinless Son,
paid for your
sins on the
cross and rose
from the dead,
you are now a son
(or daughter) of
the living God of
heaven!

And when you die,
you will go
straight to heaven
to be with Jesus
Christ forever and
ever!

AND NOW THAT
YOU ARE A
CHRISTIAN, IT
IS IMPORTANT
TO LEARN HOW
TO LIVE A LIFE
THAT GLORIFIES
GOD IN HEAVEN.
