that after being saved
through faith in his
death and resurrection
that we would become
healthy and wealthy?
I have heard some call
that kind of preaching to
be the 'prosperity
gospel'. But did Jesus
Christ really teach that?
Let us see what God's
Holy Word, the King
James Bible, says
verses is for emphasis.
Words of Jesus
Christ are in red.
Jesus Christ had no home
Jesus Christ had no home
or castle to live in like
some religious men
have. He went to
preach the gospel
where the people
were, and walked
the dusty streets of
Israel. And when he was
crucified, all he had
were the clothes on
his back, and those
clothes that the
Roman soldiers
who crucified him
gambled for!
Matthew
8:20 And Jesus saith
Matthew
8:20 And Jesus saith
unto him, The foxes
have holes, and the
birds of the air have
nests; but the Son of
man [himself] hath
not where to lay his
head.
Matthew
27:35 And they crucified
Matthew
27:35 And they crucified
him [Jesus Christ],
and parted his
garments, casting
lots [throwing dice]:
that it might be fulfilled
which was spoken
by the prophet, They
parted my garments
among them, and
upon my vesture
did they cast lots.
Matthew
6:19 Lay not up for
Matthew
6:19 Lay not up for
yourselves treasures
upon earth, where moth
and rust doth corrupt,
and where thieves
break through and steal:
6:20 But lay up for
6:20 But lay up for
yourselves treasures
in heaven, where
neither moth nor rust
doth corrupt, and
where thieves do not
break through nor
steal:
6:21 For where your
6:21 For where your
treasure is, there
will your heart be also.
Matthew 6:24
Matthew 6:24
No man can serve
two masters: for
either he will hate
the one, and love
the other; or else he
will hold to the one,
and despise the other.
Ye cannot serve
God and mammon
[riches; wealth].
Luke 9:25
Luke 9:25
For what is a man
advantaged, if he
gain the whole
world, and lose
himself, or be cast
away?
Luke 12:15
And he said unto them,
Luke 12:15
And he said unto them,
Take heed, and
beware of
covetousness [envy;
greed]: for a man's
life consisteth
not in the abundance
of the things which he
possesseth.
Jesus Christ definitely
did not teach us that
we would become
wealthy and healthy
after we became a
Christian. In fact, he
told us to lay up
treasures in heaven
not earthly treasures,
meaning we are to
share the gospel with
people which will have
eternal rewards, not
earthly rewards.
Not everyone that
became a follower of
Jesus was healed.
Paul had an affliction
that, although he
prayed God would
remove it, he had
that affliction still. So,
we do not become
healthy just because
we become a follower
of Jesus Christ. That
is not to say that
some may be healed,
but becoming a
Christian does not
guarantee you that
you will be healed
and become healthy.
