People don't like to
acknowledge the word
'sin' today; but sin is
the reason we can't
have a relationship with
God the Father in heaven
until our sin problem is
taken care of, and we will
not make it to heaven
when we die unless our
sin debt has been paid
in full because God is
holy and cannot be
around sin or sinners.
Today it is not politically
correct to mention sin
because it makes people
feel guilty. People try to
substitute the word ‘fault’
for their ‘sin’; but the
dictionary says there is
a big difference between
the two! Please keep
reading to find out why
this is extremely
A Fault = A mistake; an error; a minor offense or
misdeed.
A Sin = Sin is deliberately
disobeying the will of God.
Adam and Eve, the first
man and woman, had a very
close relationship with God.
He provided everything for
them. He even spoke to them
one-on-one, out loud and in
person! The earth then was
perfect, their health was
perfect, God supplied all
their needs, and they
were innocent!
But God did give them ONE
commandment (one rule)
to obey - that they should
NOT eat of one particular
tree in the Garden of
Eden - that was "the
tree of the knowledge of
good and evil". They were
innocent then, and God
wanted to protect them from
evil; but he did give them
free will, as he does to all
of us. God is a gentleman
and will not force himself
on anyone. We have to
choose to want to love
and obey him.
God warned Adam and Eve
that if they ate of that
forbidden tree, they would
die. Well, they did disobey
God, and they brought
sin and death into the
whole world. (Sin is
what God calls our
disobedience to Him.)
I have heard that some
people wonder why Adam
and Eve didn't die
(physically) immediately
after they sinned since
God had warned them
that they would die if they
ate of that forbidden tree.
But Adam and Eve did die
in two ways. They died
spiritually immediately
because their sin (their
disobedience to God) broke
their relationship with God
and they were now dead
spiritually and headed for
hell! The other death they
experienced was that their
bodies started to age and
they were then vulnerable
to disease, sickness,
handicaps, birth
defects, etc., aging, and
eventually to death.
Later, we know that
Adam and Eve must have
repented of their sins
against God because
at least two of their sons
did obey God: Abel
and Seth.
Adam and Eve had been
totally innocent before
they sinned against God.
An example of that is this:
Before their sin, they
were naked and not
ashamed. But watch
what happens after they
sinned...
Genesis
2:25 And they were both
naked, the man and his
wife, and were not
ashamed.
After sinning against God,
they realized they were
naked, and then were
ashamed of their
nakedness. They then
sewed leaves together to
make aprons to cover
their now sinful bodies
(note that only one sin
made them sinners);
and then they hid from
God because they were
afraid to face him. See
what sin did to them? They
felt shame and guilt and
they hid from God who
had been their close
friend before they
disobeyed him.
Genesis
3:7 And the eyes of them
both were opened, and
they knew that they were
naked; and they sewed fig
leaves together, and
made themselves aprons.
3:9 And the LORD God
called unto Adam, and said
unto him, Where art thou?
3:10 And he said, I heard thy
voice in the garden, and I
was afraid, because I was
naked; and I hid myself.
3:11 And he [God] said, Who
told thee that thou wast
naked? Hast thou eaten of
the tree, whereof I
commanded thee that
thou shouldest not eat?
So then God killed an
innocent animal (or
maybe two) and shed
its blood to make
coats for Adam and Eve
as a temporary covering
for their now sinful bodies.
This 'blood sacrifice' is
important for us to remember
for the future
once-for-all-time
sacrifice of Jesus Christ,
the Lamb of God, who
would take away the sins
of the world!
Hebrews
9:12 Neither by the blood
of goats and calves, but
by his [Jesus Christ's] own
blood he entered in once
into the holy place, having
obtained eternal
redemption for us.
God had said that if Adam
and Eve ate of that
forbidden tree they
would die.
Genesis
2:16 And the LORD God
commanded the man, saying,
Of every tree of the garden
thou mayest freely eat:
2:17 But of the tree of the
knowledge of good and evil,
thou shalt not eat of it: for
in the day that thou
eatest thereof thou
shalt surely die.
But Lucifer (Satan, the
Devil), in the form of a
serpent, tempted Eve by
suggesting to her that
God was lying to them,
and that if they ate of
the forbidden tree they
would become 'as gods',
implying that God was
holding out on them
when they could
become 'gods'. See
here what Jesus Christ,
the Son of God, calls
Satan, the devil!
John 8:44
Ye are of your father
the devil, and the
lusts of your father
ye will do. He was a
murderer from the
beginning, and abode
not in the truth, because
there is no truth in him.
When he speaketh a lie,
he speaketh of his own:
for he is a liar, and the
father of it.
Genesis
3:4 And the serpent [Satan]
said unto the woman, Ye
shall not surely die:
3:5 For God doth know that
in the day ye eat thereof,
then your eyes shall be
opened, and ye shall be
as gods, knowing good
and evil.
I've heard it said that
some people think, "Why
should I die because
Adam and Eve sinned?"
But if Satan had tempted
you as he had Eve - and
be honest with yourself -
if he had told you that
you could be 'as a god',
wouldn't you have
believed the lie and been
tempted to disobey God
just like Adam and Eve
did?
In addition, pride had to
have played a part in
making Adam and Eve want
to be 'as gods'. Sounds like
the rest of us sinful human
beings who find it hard to
give up control of our lives
to our loving, heavenly
Father even though He
knows all things, including
the future, and wants what
is best for us. I know I like
to be my own boss and prefer
not to have anyone tell me
what to do. But our Loving
Heavenly Father has a plan
for our lives, and since he
knows the future, it is safer to
let him guide my steps
through this uncertain life.
Just like God had a plan for
Jeremiah before he was even
born! That means God had a
plan for each one of our lives
before we were born. Trust
God to show you what that
plan is.
Jeremiah 1:5
Before I [God] formed thee
in the belly I knew thee;
and before thou camest
forth out of the womb I
sanctified thee, and I
ordained thee a prophet
unto the nations.
Back to Adam and Eve...And
then after Adam and Eve
sinned, the earth changed.
It was no longer perfect. You
can see "the curse" of sin in
nature...weeds and bugs
that destroy, ice and snow
when most plants die,
thorns and thistles that
made it hard to plant food,
etc. But, before sin and
death entered the world,
the earth was perfect!
But, after they sinned, then
the earth was cursed.
Also, there were
consequences because
of their sin, as there always
are when we sin. Sometimes
we think we 'got away
with' our sin because the
consequences did not show
up right away; but the
consequences will come to
hurt us (and perhaps other
people), even though when
we sinned we were only
thinking of the momentary
pleasure of the sin, and not
of the consequences that
always come sooner or
later.
Genesis
3:17 And unto Adam he
[God] said, Because thou
hast hearkened [listened]
unto the voice of thy wife,
and hast eaten of the tree,
of which I commanded
thee, saying, Thou shalt
not eat of it: cursed is
the ground for thy sake;
in sorrow shalt thou eat
of it all the days of thy
life;
3:18 Thorns also and
thistles shall it bring
forth to thee; and thou
shalt eat the herb of
the field;
3:19 In the sweat of
thy face shalt thou eat
bread, till thou return unto
the ground; for out of it
wast thou taken: for dust
thou art, and unto dust
shalt thou return.
And here was the
consequence of Eve's
sin of disobedience to
God's command, and
for tempting her
husband, Adam,
to sin...
Genesis 3:16
Unto the woman he said,
I will greatly multiply thy
sorrow and thy conception;
in sorrow thou shalt bring
forth children; and thy
desire shall be to thy
husband, and he shall
rule over thee.
Heaven is where God's
throne is. He has the
right to say who gets
into his holy heaven.
Matthew
5:34 But I say unto
you, Swear not at
all; neither by
heaven; for it is
God's throne:
God's Holy Word, the
King James Bible,
tells us that God
cannot be around sin
(iniquity) or sinners.
Habakkuk
1:13(a) Thou [God] art
of purer eyes than to
behold evil, and canst
not look on iniquity
[sin]:
We all inherited a sin
nature from Adam.
God says we are ALL
sinners.
Romans
5:12 Wherefore, as
by one man [Adam]
sin entered into the
world, and death by
sin; and so death
passed upon
all men, for that
all have sinned:
Romans
3:23 For all have
sinned, and come
short of the glory
of God;
Remember in the
beginning of this
post when God shed
the blood of innocent
animals to make a
temporary covering
for Adam and Eve's
now sinful bodies?
Remember the
blood sacrifice
because that is
important to know
how we can get
into heaven.
During Bible times
animals were sacrificed
to temporarily cover
man's sin; but being
temporary it had to be
repeated daily. But
those sacrifices
would never get rid of
man's sin forever.
So God sent his
only begotten Son,
Jesus Christ, to
earth in human form
in order to be the
ULTIMATE SINLESS
SACRIFICE who
would die in OUR place
for our sins so we would
not have to spend
eternity in hell if we
accept Him as our
Saviour!
Then After Jesus
Christ was in the grave
three days, GOD THE
FATHER IN HEAVEN
RAISED HIM FROM
THE DEAD TO SHOW
US THAT GOD THE
FATHER IN HEAVEN
HAD ACCEPTED
JESUS CHRIST'S
SINLESS BLOOD
SACRIFICE TO PAY
FOR YOUR SINS AND
MINE. How do we know
our sins are paid in full?
Listen to what Jesus Christ
said right before He
died on the cross. He
was telling us that God's
plan of salvation was
finished. Done. There was
nothing left to do. Jesus
Christ had done it all!
John 19:30
When Jesus therefore had
received the vinegar, he
said, It is finished: and
he bowed his head, and
gave up the ghost [died].
So, if we want to get to
God's holy heaven,
we need to do it God's
way, not ours! Here is
how:
How can you be
saved from your
sins and know that
you will go to
heaven when you
die? God's Holy
Word, the King
James Bible, tells
us how:
Agree with God in
heaven that you are
a sinner and need a
Saviour. GOD SAYS
WE ARE ALL
SINNERS. But keep
reading because
there is Good News
for you:
Romans 3:23
For all have sinned,
and come short of the
glory of God;
Be willing to turn from
your sin (repent).
Acts 17:30
And the times of this
ignorance God winked
at; but now commandeth
all men every where to
repent:
Believe that Jesus
Christ, the Sinless Son
of God, shed his blood
on the cross to pay
for your sins and
mine, was buried,
and that three
days later He rose
from the dead.
Romans 10:9
That if thou shalt confess
with thy mouth the Lord
Jesus, and shalt believe
in thine heart that God
hath raised him from
the dead, thou shalt
be saved.
Repent of trusting in
anything or anyone
other than Jesus
Christ (i.e. baptism,
good works, idols,
false gods, $/tithes,
man-made church
rules or traditions,
or religious
ceremonies) to
save you.
Titus 3:5
Not by works of
righteousness which we
have done, but according
to his mercy he saved us,
by the washing of
regeneration, and
renewing of the Holy
Ghost;
Jesus said that we do
not get to heaven by our
good works (stuff we
have done). See verses
7:22 and 7:23 below!
Matthew
7:21 Not every one that
saith unto me, Lord,
Lord, shall enter into
the kingdom of heaven;
but he that doeth the
will of my Father which
is in heaven.
7:22 Many will say to
me in that day, Lord,
Lord, have we not
prophesied in thy
name? and in thy
name have cast
out devils? and in
thy name done
many wonderful
works?
7:23 And then will I
profess unto them,
I never knew you:
depart from me, ye
that work iniquity.
Accept God's Free
Gift of eternal life
through his Sinless
Son, the Lord Jesus
Christ. It is a free gift
to you, but it cost Jesus
Christ his life! You do
not have to work to
earn a Gift - It is free!
Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is
death; but the gift of
God is eternal life
through Jesus Christ
our Lord.
Ask Jesus Christ to be
your personal Saviour
and Lord of your life.
Romans 10:13
For whosoever shall
call upon the name
of the Lord shall be
saved.
If you did that and
sincerely meant it,
then you are now a
Christian! Welcome
to the family.
Romans 10:9
That if thou shalt confess
with thy mouth the Lord
Jesus, and shalt believe
in thine heart that God
hath raised him from
the dead, thou shalt
be saved.
And when you die, you
will go straight to heaven
to be with Jesus Christ
forever and ever! The
following Bible verse
is one of my favorites.
It gave me comfort when
I went through double
breast cancer surgery
for I knew that if I died
on the operating table
I would immediately be
in heaven with Jesus!
Knowing that is why I
no longer fear what
comes after death.
What freedom there is
in knowing that!
2 Corinthians 5:8
We are confident, I say,
and willing rather to be
absent from the body,
and to be present with
the Lord.
One note to all dear
Catholics: The Catholic
church says that it is
wrong to believe that
you can know you are
saved before you die.
Please think about
this: God is a God of
love. After all he sent
his Son to die for your
sins so you could be
with him in heaven for
eternity! That is love!
Why would a God of love
want you to worry all of
your life whether you will
go to heaven or hell when
you die? God in heaven
wants us to have peace
and joy in this life as we
live for him and draw
others to him as their
Saviour. Only a cruel
God would want us
worried and stressed
about what comes after
death. But GOD LOVES
YOU and wants you to
have peace knowing that
you are saved now and
can know now that you
are going to heaven when
you die! Please trust your
loving heavenly Father's
Holy Word (the King James
Bible) when God tells you
that you will be with Him
after death if you trusted
Jesus Christ as your
Saviour!
And now that you have
become a Christian, it
is important to learn how
to live a life that glorifies
God in heaven who gave
you the Gift of salvation.
